Old oil on canvas laid on board landscape painting of a steep-sided canyon, framed by tall foreground trees, the work signed at very bottom left center (hidden by frame) "H. Baumgartner". Measurements are 16" by 12" and 18 1/2" by 14 1/2" in old wood framing. I would guess the age as circa 1930's or 1940's. While there are German artists that would correspond to this name, their work is unlike this piece...

A beautiful heartfelt watercolor signed RS,work on paper measuring 12x9”, framed size 18x15” beautiful watercolor by the American artist Richard Sched, known for his watercolors and rich oil. Mr. Sched, a native of Boston, who studied art at Boston College, was a member of the New York Painters Society. He taught art at Boston College and exhibited there. On his frequent trips abroad he would paint people he met. He painted Pope Jean Paul II as well as other dignitaries...

He became most famous for his watercolors depicting scenes of courtship and flirtation between Victorian era subjects in formal dress within opulent interiors . Aureli is an extensively listed artist appearing in Mallet, Davenports and Art Price to name a few...

**One of two works by the artist in my shop** Oil on canvas, measuring 16" by 20" (22 1/2" by 26 1/2" as nicely framed), titled "Pond Farm" (and original $400 price) on the original Dalzell Hatfield label affixed to the backing. I do not see an actual signature on the painting itself but have not removed the backing board to search the reverse side. The painting is in excellent original condition...

A watercolor painting featuring a scenic view of what I believe to be the cliffs of Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, signed at lower left by California artist Dolores Manning. The 20" by 14" work (26" by 20" framed) is by a woman artist who recently passed away in Malibu, California. A number of her works were available for purchase at the estate sale. Apparently she had lived in the San Francisco Bay area (Moraga, CA labels on the reverse of several) and also in the area around Lake Tahoe...

A very old, very well executed detailed antique painting of currants, grapes, raspberries and plums on a platter, apparently unsigned, measuring 11" by 12 1/4" (17 1/2" by 19 1/2" in an older, attractive frame). The oil on canvas is laid down on Masonite. It is difficult to determine the exact age, but early 19th century or even earlier would not be unreasonable...

Pastel on paper drawing of late autumn trees in a wooded landscape around a pond or small lake, 21 1/4" by 26 1/4" (31" by 36 1/2" framed), signed at lower right in all capital letters "CLAUDE REME". I don't see a listing by this name so the work stands on its own decorative powers, which are significant. There is a lot of atmosphere in this quiet scene, and the piece is big enough to power a wall on its own. Condition is excellent...

From our European Collection, a very fine original painting entitled "The Duet," by 19th century watercolor master George Goodwin (G.G.) Kilburne (1839-1924). We've seen a fair amount of Kilburne watercolors, as he was a pretty prolific artist of his day, but we think this is one of his better pieces. To paint as realistically as he does in just watercolor, as opposed to oil paint, is really a special talent all of its own. Signed lower right.
