Jake Lee's works are increasingly sought after by collectors in the wake of his relatively recent passing, some works approaching $20,000 at auctions. This is a clean, unusually large (24" by 36" plus 4" on a side framing) example, painted directly on board in heavy gouache or tempera (thinned oil?) and in excellent condition. A well-painted work featuring an interior, perhaps a residence, perhaps a restaurant or other public space, a table with fruit in a bowl, a chair, and sofa filling the space. The oil on canvas, 17 1/2" by 21" (20 1/2" by 24" in old frame, likely the original), is signed somewhat indecipherably at lower left and dated there "Berlin 1909". The name appears at first glance to be "B. Geis(xxxx)" or "B. Geism(xxxx)"...

Rare gouache on paper circa 1940s by Emanuel Glicenstein (Glicen) Romano (American born in Italy, 1897-1984). This work measures roughly 12" by 9" (19" by 15" in its frame). It is signed Glicenstein Romano l.l. Glicenstein Romano worked for the Federal Art Project creating murals in the thirties. He created a series of allegorical works depicting the Holocaust in the forties and this work may be part of that group...

Excellent condition, with no flaws to speak of, and measuring 1 1/2" by 1 1/4"...

In this beautiful scene, we can see a group of Russian peasants wearing traditional Russian clothes and celebrating joyously outside the village inn. The peasants are standing near a barrel covered with a board on which a bottle of vodka has been placed...

This is an antique 19th-century Russian oil painting on a metal panel, possibly iron. The painting is titled “Russian Peasant Conversation at the Front of the Cottage.” It portrays a scene where two Russian peasants converse at the front of a lodge. Two boys are also present in the painting, attentively listening to the conversation. The attire of the peasants is typical of Russian clothing.
