An antique Kearsley hand coloured snake copper plate engraving print from 1801. This is a really fine example and it is entitled "VIPER-HEADAED SNAKE", from the original by James Heath. Original 19th century albumen photograph by Jean-Pascal Sebah (1872-1947) depicting the old Cairo and the island of Rhoda (the photograph is titled in the plate l.l "Vieux Caire et Ile de Rowdah"). Signed in the plate l.r. Jean-Pascal Sebah was the son of Pascal Sebah (1823-1886). He continued the family studio in 1888 in Constantinople. Manuel Robbe, French, 1872-1936, "Claudine," colored etching and aquatint, plate measures 12 x 9 3/4 inches on 24 x 17 3/8 inch arches laid type paper. Print 26 in an edition of 65. C. 1903. Published by Sagot, Paris. Robbe studied at the Academie Julien and the Ecole des Beaux Artes, becoming a master of the aquatint medium. He developed much of his own aquatint techniques, which enabled him to create his uniquely painterly, richly colored images.

Daniel Tretiak wrote about prints that were new to him (in 2017) that included, in my (LDT)view, one of the strangest, hard-to-decipher prints that the artist ever did, Bai-1. It was an early one, created in 1958.

A large aquatint with hand coloring titled, “LORD NELSON’S FUNERAL PROCESSION BY WATER, FROM GREENWICH HOSPITAL TO WHITE HALL, JAN.8TH, 1806.” The print was published March 1 1806 by Edward Orme. This, like many of his research notes, was an addendum to his book, The Life and Works of Haku Maki, which he published in 2007. He wrote an Appendix to the book called Chasing Maki. It is his story of buying prints and collecting images of Maki prints. This research note, written 10 years later, is about one of his chases, a chase that failed. Dan wrote: Please enjoy.
