A very good bronze figure of a hound by Piere-Jules Mene (1810-1877). The hound stands alert look over his shoulder at the viewer. The rectangular base is well-textured with rocks and branches, typical of Mene's style. The shape of the base suggests that the casting is from Mene's own foundry and dates to the 1840s. 19th C Continental Gilt Bronze pair of Woodsman and Wife , probably Dutch extremely detailed pair of gilt bronzes notice the patching and repair to their clothing . The couple looks lovingly at each other while working. The figures were cast in 2 pieces each and assembled and mounted to a slate like bases. Very heavy pieces. Size approximately 12"

AFTER CLODION, A PATINATED BRONZE YOUNG SAYTR AND PUTTO, FRENCH, 19TH CENTURY. Raised on white marble pedestals with gilt bronze mounts. Each appear to have once been fitted with candle arms at verso. Height 12.75 inches (32.5 cm).

The superbly modeled alligator head jaw moves on its hinged mouth when its lever is pushed. The head is emerging from from marshy grasses waiting to catch its prey. The alligator is mounted on ebonized oval support which is held by a gilt bronze rococo plinth.

Overall condition is very good to near excellent though the gilt patination shows minor losses or fading. The base is late 18th / early 19th C. though the alligator dates later in the century...
