Pastel on paper laid on thick paperboard, 22" by 18", unframed, signed at lower left and dated 1921 by the artist, DAVID COMBA ADAMSON (1859-1926). In this drawing the artist shows his skill with the pastel medium. This is a sensitive portrait of an attractive young lady against an interesting striped pattern background, a red rose before her. There is no indication as to who she might have been (no writing/labels on reverse)...

This is a mid 19th century painting of a young girl in a beautiful landscape setting. It is painted on academy board which measures 10 1/2" x 12 1/2" and is mounted in a beautiful carved frame which appears to be original to the painting. The frame measures 18" x 16". This could be a early American folk art portrait depicting a memorial to the young lady. She is holding in her hand some grapes on a vine and this is a symbol of Christian redemption...

This is a large work of art in delicate condition, 26" by 54" and 3" wide frame, so, I am seeking a local (Southern California) buyer who can pick it up. The painting, of a tropical coast with palms, decorative boats, and numerous figures, is well painted in an impressionistic manner, and is signed "M. H. A charming pastel portrait by Dorothy Colles which was commisioned for a "Trufood" advertizing poster. Dorothy Colles (1917-2003) was, according to an obituary in the Independent newspaper,"gifted in portraits of children". She has exhibited through the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Portrait Painting. There is a water 'splash' above the head of the boy which we have not attempted to restore.
