**ONE OF TWO WORKS BY THIS ARTIST IN MY SHOP**Pencil signed lithograph titled "Annabelle Lee", 1946, signed at lower right in pencil by noted listed artist BUELL WHITEHEAD (1919-1993). Measuring 15 1/2" by 9 1/2" framed, this was executed by a talented and increasingly sought after artist who is most closely associated with Florida and California. A monograph on him was recently published by Ron Newsom of Florida, a friend and neighbor of the artist in his later years...

Old watercolor drawing (perhaps charcoal in places as well) with slight use of white gouache, unsigned, the subject a younger man of the sixteenth century or thereabouts. The drawing (15 1/2" by 12") is on grayish heavy paper (the true color is indicated by the first two images---the subsequent ones were taken in different light, suggesting a more tan color). The age of the drawing itself is especially difficult to determine in this instance...

Oil on canvas board, 14 1/2" by 19 1/2", unframed, signed at lower left in Russian "O. Menailova ", and with a typed label on the reverse that reads "Menailova Bamskaya/study -- oil--/1996 year". There's also a violet colored rubber stamp on the back in Russian that is hard to decipher (probably an export stamp)...

This is a restrike of the large folio, popular and well-known lithograph "Winter in the Country---The Old Grist Mill" by Currier and Ives. Measurements inside the mat are 18" by 26 1/4", and the piece as framed is 26 1/2" by 33 1/2". The original 19th century lithograph is in the "Best 50" list, and it inspired many paintings after its publication...

A circa mid 20th century oil on Masonite landscape painting of trees and a wide stream, 20" by 36" (25 1/2" by 31" framed), signed in Russian or possibly Ukrainian (or, Armenian?) at lower left. The work currently has a yellowish cast which appears to be nicotine from cigarette smoke. Were it to be cleaned the painting might well be totally a different color, but the yellowish "autumnal" tone seems to work on its own. Condition is very good with only a few light abrasions.

This is a fine drawing on heavy paper, the subject a young woman, in mixed media including pencil, red chalk, wash, and some white gouache for highlights, signed at lower right only with conjoined initials that could be "TH" or some variant of that. PAIR of framed Chinese or Japanese landscape watercolor paintings in traditional style, each featuring a mountain landscape, a small river in one and a waterfall in the other running into the lake or ocean. Blue-roofed buildings pine trees add to the beauty of the scenes. Each has a red chop mark and some calligraphy at lower right, presumably the name of the artist. A circa 1920 painting of a waterfall emerging from a steep cliff above a gorge, signed at lower right by artist S. P. Christesen. I do not see a listing for an artist by this name, or Christensen, but clearly he/she was talented. The scene would appear to be western American, though I recently viewed photos of the noted Montmorency Falls in Quebec, Canada, and there is a strong resemblance to this scene. A circa 1920's to 1940's old reprint of the much-loved classic Currier and Ives lithograph "American Winter Scenes", with a horse-drawn sleigh heading towards the snug home at right in which a party appears to be held. The piece measures 23 1/2" by 30 1/2" in what I believe is a birdseye maple frame. Condition is very good, vintage condition.
