Possibly an unstated first edition written by Donald G. Mitchell. The book has green cloth boards with gilt lettering and gilt top. Published in 1897 by Charles Scribner. The cover shows light wear, an owner's name in pencil is on the free paper and the book is slightly cocked. Pages 235 on have some type of very faint stain at the corners. 7¾" - 9¾" 294pp.

Issues: gilt lettering has faded on the boards which now appear light brown; the boards also show wear and staining, predominately on the back where the ends are worn, stained and chipped; the book is slightly cocked, there are gilt initials imprinted on brown front free endpaper, and there is light foxing.
