Very old mask with black soot patina representing a demon or Raktsatsa which is the local name. We can notice the very high quality of sculpture which is a sign of a grade of seniority, at least early 20th century. The mouth is wide open with menacing teeth to accentuate the frightening aspect. It is probable that the shivaite trident improperly engraved on the forehead is posterior to the sculpture of the hardwood mask in excellent condition. H 21 cm

These mall sized ghurras are used to churn small quantity of milk when in summer pasture with sheep, the carving shows 4 separated poles joined with a rope knot and surmounted by 4 milk pots supporting a ram , very nice black patina with important signs of used, at least from mid 20th, from Rukkum district . Old mask with a severe appearance. The position of the orbits is asymmetrical, the nose is long and tapered. The mouth is small open showing small carved teeth. This Tibetan wool sash measures 12.7 cm x 340.4 cm in length including the silky fringes. The tigma (cross) motif is an ancient good luck charm among Tibetans and here it is depicted in a discontinuous weft pattern design. These sashes are traditionally worn to secure the traditional Tibetan attire called a chuba. The high lustre of the wool is attributed to the high lanolin content of the goat wool in the high altitude regions of the Tibetan plateau...

Worn for festival, this shapely Tibetan belt is covered with black and coral colored beads, cowrie shells and has a central medallion of silver with turquoise beads. The belt is secured around the waist with cord ties which extend from each side, I have used it as a wall decoration. A king-sized cotton duvet cover from Nepal, measuring 111 x 74½" inches (43.7 x 29.3 cm) in purple, red and green. The viúvavajra ("crossed vajra") and chevron motifs are depicted in wool thread in chain stitch. Condition: Excellent. The vajra (meaning diamond or thunderbolt) is believed to represent firmness of spirit and spiritual power and is displayed in the national emblem of Bhutan.

Tibetan shamanic horn whose local name is Nag Ru or sometimes also Thun-rva. This horn can contain either incense or essentially vegetable matter with medicinal properties. Presence of sculptures of some auspicious symbols, chorten, turtle, dorgi, mandala. The tapered part represents a Makara mouth which has an orifice to project the contents during rituals. Antique Tibetan cabinet with 2 large compartments. The entire front of the cabinet is decorated in kyungbur technique (designs and pictures painted in raised lines of a gesso and resin mixture) on a deep red ground. Two large compartments are covered by 8 large panels decorated with phoenixes in medallions of scrolling vines and flowers. The middle four panels open to the compartments. The bottom of the chest has 3 additional stationary panels decorated similarly with flowers...

The top shows 3 ancestors flat faces who are protectors of the family, they are surmounted by a conical crown with carved geometrical lines. The middle part is a “Dorgi”, the symbol of cosmic power. The down part is triangular blade with an intelace of snakes, used as a knife to nail the bad spirits while the shaman is fighting with devils and demons. The white cloth strips wrapped around the middle part are to protect the shaman hands against the high energy during his fight...

This mask expresses the harshness of the uncomfortable life in isolated districts. Wood is extremely hard probably from teak tree showing an amber to reddish color. The eyes, however, have been the subject of special work, the toothless mouth is opened to show a the tip of the tongue. This mask comes of the district of Humla H24 cm x 17 cm
