Vintage Japanese uchikake (wedding kimono) crafted from heavy woven and embroidered silk brocade fabric with extensive gilt thread in a dense pattern of flowers and peacocks. Mid-20th century. The lining is fine red silk. Very good overall condition with only minor wear at the bottom corners where the lining meets the brocade. Measures about 73" in length by about 50" across. From a Casa Grande, Arizona collection.

This is a wonderful Netsuke Set depicting Kiyohime, the Dragon Witch, holding the Dojoji Bell, right next to her beloved Anchin. According to Japanese legend, Kiyohime the daughter of an innkeeper, fell in love with the pilgrim Anchin, but was rejected by him. The enraged Kiyohime turned herself into a dragon witch who went to the Dojoji temple to look for Anchin who had hidden under a huge bell. This is a wonderful vintage Japanese Raku style tea cup of Ohi ware, which was made about 50-60 years ago. The seal of 'Ohi' is stamped on the bottom. This tea cup has an amazing amber glaze.
The original wooden box is also included.
Ohi ware has become well known for its use of Ame-gusuri, or amber glaze. Being a Raku style, it was low-fired and is quite light and soft in the hands...

Kashigata (wooden sweet mold,) Take (bamboo) motif, Japan, early 20th C. L.7.375"(18.5cm) x W.4.375") x H.1.375"(3.5cm.) This mold features a bamboo stalk with two groupings of leaves, and the sweetmaker has written "sa-sa-ba" (bamboo leaves) on the side of the mold.
