1930s Japanese plastic kushi (hair comb) with embedded gold tone metallic flower design and 2 types of mother of pearl inlays depicting magical rain hat and and Daikoku’s mallet, design continuing on the back. Very well made, wonderful work in Japanese taste, 2 losses to inlays (handle of the mallet and a leaf on the back), otherwise in great condition. Length 3.82 inches. Part of East Coast collection of Japanese hair items.

Vintage small Chinese scholar’s buffalo horn seal of square section, traces of red seal paste in the grooves. The impression of the seal is shown on the first photo where it is flipped left to right to present the image as it will print on paper. Beautiful light colored horn, mellow patina, in great condition. Very nice object for a scholar’s desk. Height 1.48 inches, base 0.58 inches square.

Japanese Brass Ash Rake for Hibachi during Tea Ceremony for moving ash around the charcoal, 1930's, 7" high, 4" wide-bottom, short handle, wide bottom, rather heavy Brass rake for Hibachi, shows wears around the tip of the rake.

Nine(9) Japanese brown Lacquer on wood sake dishes, many different patterns and designs on each lacquer dishes, 1" high and 4 1/8" diameter-largest, 7/8" high and 3 1/2" diameter-smallest dish, with some dull spots and tiny lacquer loss areas, Sake dishes are stored inside signed wooden box.

Japanese Porcelain Jar Top, cover for Vase or Jar. Cobalt Blue underglaze design of floral and Bamboo with large high blue knob. 5" high, 4 1/2 diameter-outer maximum, 2 1/2" diameter-inner rim(jar diameter must be larger than 2 1/2"), the condition is good.

This is a bit out of my field as primarily an art dealer but I will do my best to describe: small cloisonne vessel, age unknown, likely mid 20th century I believe, 3 1/4" in height, 2 1/2" diameter as seen from the top, Japanese or Chinese origin. Overall good vintage condition, no dents but there is a small area (see photos) where the enamel work has crumbled/is missing. Remember that the photo is very close-up, so that this area measures only 3/4" in length, total.

Chinese Bamboo hanging wall decoration, Chinese Character incised in black, 11" high, 5 1/2" wide in the back, half moon shape. The condition is good except natural shrinkage of inner soft part of Bamboo, please see inside the top.

Japanese Blue and White Stoneware Sake Bottle, or Tokkuri, 10" high, 5 1/2" wide-widest middle section, with Blue Kanji letters on white rough glazed surface. White glaze chipped off, will make nice decorative kitchen items.

Japanese Blue and White Soba Noodle Cup, Showa period, late 1800 to early 1900's, 2 3/4" high, 3" diameter-top rim, tapered top and transfered blue design of flying Phoenix Bird among scrolling vines and leaves, unglazed bottom. The condition is good, some sand spots while firing in the kiln.

Late Meiji to early Taisho (1920s) Japanese Kutani porcelain obidome (sash ornament) with enamel decoration of various flowers. Nice design, good quality painting with gold and other enamels, bar on the back for an obi cord, pleasant patina. Marked on the back bar with 2 characters reading KUTANI. Length 1.7 inches.

Japanese Ikebana woven Bamboo wall hanging Basket, 12 1/2" high, 3 3/4" 2 3/4" wide-bamboo basket only, woven with all natural material, the condition is good.

Two(2) Chinese Celadon Green Pottery Tops or Covers for Jar, most of times used in the Kitchen, 3/4" to 1" high, 3 1/2" diameter(inside diameter), 4 1/2" diameter(outside diameter), they are all in good conditions.

4 pieces of Nara Uchiwa whose history dates back to Nara period (A.D.710~794). It began as manual side line work of the Shinto priest of Kasuga Taisha Shrine in Nara. The traditional motifs (Tenpyo Moyo) such as peonix, deer, kylin (imaginary animal), dragon, Parrot etc. These four (originally five) were made by Ikeda Gankodo which is only existing maker of it in Nara. Wooden figure of Tosa-inu (Tosa dog) representing Yokozuna (grand champion of sumo ). Tosa is located in Kochi prefecture in Shikoku district. In good condition except for some dirt in the ropes. 20th century. W:10.3cm x H:10.3cm D:12cm

Chinese carved Ivory Ram's Head clasp, consisting of Ram's Head and oval ring, 2 long 7/8" wide, 3/8" deep-Ram's Head, and 7/8" x 5/8" wide, 1/8" thick-oval ring, made in "Hong Kong" label, imported to US prior to 1980. The oval ring goes over the Ram's Head to close the necklace, connect with string to other side of Ram's head, there are two(2) holes to connect together and string the oval ring next to beads of your choice. The condition is good.

Japanese tall brown Lacquer on wood Candlestick, 28" high, 12" diameter-base diameter, 4" diameter-top, attached brass round dish on top and brass hook on the side. Lacquer surface shows wear and tear, as is condition.

Katagami which is used for katazome (stenci-resist-dye), made of many layers of washi (Japanese handmade paper). It is painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) for waterproof and strength. The pattern "Kanze-mizu" is derived from the crest of the Noh drama player Kanze Dayu which is whirl of water. He was the founder of Kanze style Noh (15th century). Bhutanese colorful Bamboo Bangchung covered Food Basket, 8 3/4" diameter, 3 1/2" high include top cover, hand woven colored Bamboo, yak skin pull or handle is attached to bottom basket on the side to pull open, usually this type of baskets closes very tight to store food, leather handle on the side is helpful to open top and bottom apart. The condition is good.

Two(2) Tibetan Himalayan Glass Zi shape Beads, 37mm x 14mm (1 1/2" x 1/2").

Kashigata (wooden sweet mold,) kanji characters "Daiou" (Great) motif; Japan, early 20th C. 2-piece Paddle-type mold to make 5 sweets. L.16.75"(42.5cm) x W.2.375"(6cm) x H.1"(2.5cm.) "Daiou" could be symbolic of any type of "greatness," but was most likely a reference to the country during the Japanese Imperial era. Sweet molds, “kashigata,” have been a part of confectionary culture around the world. Well-known examples in Asia come from Japan, China, Korea, and Indonesia...

Japanese Dragon decorated Lacquer and crushed Egg shell inlaid Document Box, 2 7/8" high, 11 3/4" wide 4" deep, with copper color metal hinges, lock box with key hole in front. Some lacquer losses are all around, eggshell decorated dragon is looking upward towards Mt. Fuji. The condition is fair, shows some lacquer losses.

Hand-woven silk sakiori obi (sash) whose weft is bunch of mixed color of silk yarn and warp is off-white silk yarn. Generally sakiori is hand-woven of recycled strips from old cloth for wefts , however we call the one also sakiori whose wefts are bunch of yarns.
