Charming stylized donkey in the "colorization without fusion" technique by Ercole Barovier. On a recent visit to Murano, I showed a photo of this donkey to Lino Toso, director of the Barovier Toso Museum, and he said he could confirm 80% that this is the work of Ercole. The donkey measures 5.25"h x 2.25"w x 3.25"d, in good condition, unmarked.

Sumptuous in its expression of the sensual qualities of glass, this stylized sculpture of a figure in repose by Livio Seguso is signed and in excellent condition. The solid glass sculpture weighs 12.5 lbs, measures 6"w x 6"d x 8"h, and was well protected over the years by four felt pads at the corners.

Superb Murano glass figurines by Alfredo Barbini. A colleague in Venice who is a dealer in Vintage Murano Glass told me he witnessed these figurines being made at the Barbini factory in the 1950's. They are in good condition: the red coated Moor at 10" tall is in pristine condition and the white suited one at 13.5" has a repair at the rear neck area which is not so apparent...

Stylized sea form sculpture in ever so subtle hues of rose and ice blue glass attributed to Archimede Seguso. The form has a soft sculpted essence and is beautiful! In good condition with normal wear on the base considering its age, the shell form measures 7.75"w x 3.75"h x 6.5"d

Ruby and crystal cornucopia pair in excellent condition. These can be vases, but the horizontal presentation of the cornucopia pair is sculptural and dramatic. These were protected over the years with felt pads at the crystal feet. Each piece is 14"h x 8" x 8". The dimension of the main photo horizontal display of the two forms is 22". Similar cornucopia by Seguso can be found in Leslie Pinas book "ARCHIMEDE SEGUSO", pgs. 202-206

This unusual transparent window murrine vase by Fratelli Toso is documented in Leslie Pinas "FRATELLI TOSO", pg.68. Titled "Tiffany Windows" because of the transperent murrines, this vessel is amazing in good light and an excellent example of the Murano Glassblowers skill. Every murrine is transparent, allowing the light to flow through nicely and reminds one of "the colors of Murano"! Measuring 5.25" tall, the vase is in excellent condition and retains the made in Murano Italy label.

This superb rendition of a lovebirds pair resting on a crystal log surely is the work of Archimede Seguso. The colorization of the birds is achieved with fragments of blue and white opal filigrana cane, resulting in a merletto type effect which is largely Archimede Segusos signature technique. The birds' gestures, beaks, wings and tails are similar to birds depicted in Leslie Pinas' book on Archimede Seguso. The two ends of the log are nicely ground convex and polished...

Unusual basket form similar to Archimede Segusos' foglia designs. The form is colored a subtle gold pink with bullicante bubbles and ribs. This fine sculptural expression demonstrates the skill of the Murano glassblowers, measures 7"w x 6"d x 9"h, and is unmarked.

This stylized interpretation of a waterbird illustrates the inspiration that the environment of the Venetian Lagoon has provided for centuries of artists. The waterbird sculpture is done in sommerso, with wine red blending masterfully into light cobalt blue. I have seen this design attributed to both Archimede Seguso and Alfredo Barbini. The waterbird is in good condition, no chips at the feet, polished base, unmarked.

This charming pair of sculpted boxer dogs by Archimede Seguso is in excellent condition and both retain Seguso labels. One of the labels is described in Leslie Pinas book, "Archimede Seguso", as the label applied to artistic designs. The large dog is 8" x 5" tall, and the puppy is 6"tall.

This stylized conch is documented in several publications, including Leslie Pinas' ITALIAN GLASS, PG 146, valued at $800-$1000 and Helmut Ricke & Eva Schmitts' ITALIAN GLASS. This modern expression of the conch shell exemplifies that even as the Murano glass designers were being influenced by the Modernist movement, life and elements from the Venetian Lagoon continued to serve as an inspiration for artists. Measuring 6.5"w x 3.5" x 5.5"h, the Conchiglie is in good condition, unmarked.

The Arcobaleno (rainbow) series was produced in 1956, and is documented in Carl Gables' MURANO MAGIC and Rosa Barovier Mentastis' ANZOLO FUGA. This rare and amazing creation by Anzolo Fuga is a unique and important 20th century design. The Arcobaleno is characterized by applied vertical stripes to the vessels body and a single large murrine at the base, magnified by the solid convex base. This Dramatic mother and child sculpture is masterfully executed and has the full name signature of Licio Zanetti. It is understood in the market that Licio put his full name on only those pieces that he considered most important and these are considered the most valuable of his work. This fine piece of Italian fruit sculpture by Archimede Seguso was blown into a diamond patterned mold and has a skillfully applied arrangement of crown leaves, each leaf applied individually. Executed in pure crystal glass, the sculptural form attracts and refracts light beautifully. The pineapple is 11.5" tall, has a polished bottom, and is in good condition with no damage, unmarked.

Venetian elegance best describes this tall vintage Murano vase in a dramatic sommerso blend of amethyst and copper blue glass. The vessel is 15" tall and in excellent condition and retains a Made in Italy, Murano label.

This Murano Glass modern expression is typical of the Flavio Poli vessel and animal designs for Seguso Vetri d'Arte in the 1940's and 1950's. Charming vintage Murano glass dog in sommerso with gold collar attributed to Alfredo Barbini. This stylized expression of a dachshund has been well kept and is in excellent condition, as evidenced in the felt pads that protected the base from scratching over the years. This charming stylized Murano glass poodle is made with uranium glass and complimented with a generous distribution of gold aventurine. A superb example of modern glass design by Anzolo Fuga for AVEM. A very similar vessel is documented in Rosa Barovier Menstasi's book, ANZOLO FUGA, in the"Multicolor Rods and Murrine" section, page 61. This vessel has the same murrine and colored rod as pictured in the book, with a more slender neck that exudes elegance. This exceptional modern vessel is is 17.75" tall and is excellent condition.

Beautiful, large figure of a young woman carrying a fruit basket. She appears to be running to market, or caught off-guard by a breeze. The figure has many unique elements that point to a Seguso attribution although the piece is unmarked. The flowing dress, and form fitting bodice in sfumato glass, the basket done in textured clear glass with gold powders; the individual pasta glass fruits, the fine attention to details...

This modern decanter by Fratelli Toso is ideal for any collector of wine decanters. The decanter and stopper are in good condition and the decanter retains its circular blue Fratelli Toso label.

This large aquatic-themed vase by Alfredo Barbini is superbly executed. The sculpted fish have animated expressions as they float through the freely drawn seaweed. This beauty illustrates Alfredo Barbini's mastery of the material. 12" tall, weighs 11 pounds and is in good condition with normal wear at the base.

Modern design vase with incisio carved surface ia a sommerso blend that transitions from cool green to a warm golden wheat color at the base. This is the first incisio I have seen in this shape; I suspect there are not many. This vessel displays nicely with the incisio candle holders item #086. The vase has a few minor scratches but otherwise in good condition and has a three-line acid stamp: Venini Murano Italia. 3.5"h x 8"dia

Fratelli Toso Rose Bowl constructed of Cattedrale (or Tiffany Window) murrines in reds, greens, yellows and blue. The murrines feature clear "windows" of glass.Some have "bullseye" configurations in the clear window and black (nerox) glass frames. This is a delightful 4 inch (10.2 cm) diameter bowl with a height of 3.75 inches (9.5 cm) due to the polished top. Excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs. Circa 1955.

This is a large ovoid shaped paperweight from the 1960's with a single large colorful fish swimming among green seaweed. The paperweight is large and heavy (almost 9 pounds), standing 6.5 inches (16.5 cm) Tall and approximately 4.5 inches (11.4 cm) in diameter. No chips, cracks or repairs; appropriate age scratches to base. Unsigned.

Green and yellow bearded dog figural decanter, hollow with hole for cork. Seguso made these decanters for Luxardo in the 1960's. Length/height of the decanter is 12 inches (30cm). Condition is very good with no chips, cracks or repairs. Unsigned, but with Luxardo liqueur labels, import labels. Please note: there is some "debris" inside the bottle as I did not wash it out for fear of destroying the labels.

Whimsical Decanter by Fratelli Toso created circa 1960.

Decanter is of simple form with applied features resembling that of a sad dog, pleading coyly with upturned eyes. The clear green glass body has opaque lines running down from the top of the neck of the bottle to just below the top of the dogs ears and eyes. The dogs eyes lattimo (milk) glass with green glass pupils looking upwards. Nose, mouth and ears are a darker clear green glass.

Very large sculpture of a seagull in flight skimming over a wave on the ocean.

The Seagull is done in clear glass, with a hazy, white, layered internal decoration. The wave is a smoky clear glass. The two pieces are epoxied together, as is the case when two pieces had to be made separately, and annealed first, due to the design not being able to be joined when hot.

The piece measures 20 inches (51 cm) tall by 20 inches (51 cm) wide and is 8 inches (20 cm) deep.

This charming stylized snail by Livio Seguso, exemplifies the finesse of the Venetian Glass maestros' skills in interpreting their natural environment with hot glass. Rare hand blown Bohemian style Murano Glass cobalt blue tea set with applied white enameled flowers in high relief, monogrammed saucers and footed cups. Custom made and purchased on Murano Island, Venice, Italy in the 1900's.
