This elegantly styled murrine pitcher by Fratelli Toso illustrates the technical expertise that the Muranese artisans possess. Each murrine is individually made and they are assembled and fused to the blowpipe and then blown into this relatively thin and elegant form. Being a glassblower myself, I have great respect for the level of skill demonstrated in vessels constructed with murrine. These were produced in the early 1900's, according to Leslie Pinas' "Fratelli Toso"...

Center bowl of opalescent glass with irregular aventurine patches floating in pools of clear teal-blue. Slightly irregular oval, almost egg shaped, bowl measures a (HUGE!) 19 inches (48 cm) by 13 (33 cm) and is 2.5 inches (6 cm) deep. Bowl has a flat bottom with a polished pontil and retains its blue and silver Murano Glass, made in Italy label. Likely an Ermanno Toso design of 1950/1960. Diminutive fazzoletto vase made from latticino and zanfrico canes. Measuring 4"x4"x2.75"h., the vase bears a worn but identifiable Seguso label from the mid-fifties.

Fulvio Bianconi designed the fasce verticale series for Venini. This pair is in good condition. The metal parts show the patina of age. An interesting detail regarding this pair is the rod that runs up the center of the lamp, concealing the wire, is covered with a ribbed clear glass tube which adds an attractive element of finish to the lamps. The lamps are 23" to top of glass.

Monumental sommerso decanter by Flavio Poli for Seguso Vetri d'Arte, circa 1950s. In brown glass cased inside a layer of pale yellow. This enormous decanter, standing 22" tall to the top of the stopper, is a showstopper. In excellent condition.

A similar bottle was featured in the 1998 Sotheby's auction "Important 20th Century Glass" with an estimate of $1,800 to $2,400.

Pair Venetian Glass Swan Salt and Pepper Dishes, green and clear molded and blown with gold leaf inside, approximately 2 1/2" high, 3 1/2" wide x 2 1/4" deep. They have to be together all the time. They are in good condition without any damage.

A beautiful Murano glass aquarium paperweight, designed probably by Alfredo Barbini around 1960. It is 7 1/4 inches (18,4 cm) wide, 5 1/4 inches (13,4 cm) high and 2 1/4 inches (5,7 cm) deep. It is in fine condition (there are some bottom usage-scratches, as might be expected). It has a faded gold label, 'Made in Italy Murano Venezia' (please see last picture).

An emerald green and silver bubbles bowl, 1950’s, unsigned, probably Italian (Murano). Width "6 / 15 cm, height "2 ¼ / 5.5 cm. Condition: one bubble larger than the others can be felt just under the lip, otherwise fine.

Elegant modern glass vase by Dino Martens is composed of white, black and aventurine rods, is 5.25" tall and in excellent condition. The "fasce bianco nero" design is well documented and mentioned in Marc Heiremans book "Dino Martens" as model #5459, page 167.

This Barbini from the 1960's will bring a smile when you look inside to see the large murine fish at the bottom. Six strategically placed bubbles surround the fish, whose body is dark green at the top, with subtle aventurine stripes on a gold leaf body. The amorphous bowl form is a champagne color, 6 1/2" diameter and 2 1/2" tall, and is in excellent condition with normal wear at the base consistent with its age.

Decanter is of simple form with applied features resembling that of a sad dog, pleading coyly with upturned eyes. The clear green glass body has opaque lines running down from the top of the neck of the bottle to just below the top of the dogs ears and eyes. This bowl is an excellent example of Murano glassblowers using the traditional technique of filigrana or latticino and applying this to a modern expression. The vessel walls are .5" - .75" thick, and the filigrana rods are imbedded in the thick walls of the form. Alternating rods contain aventurine. I have seen the exact same design with the Fratelli Toso blue foil label. Measuring 8" x 8" x 2.75"h. the bowl is in good condition, with expected wear on the base.

Utilizing the ancient technique of feathering Glass in a modern expression, this stylized bird illustrates the skill of the Murano Maestros interpretation of the Venetian Lagoons' environment. This beauty is 8"hx4"x2", unmarked, in excellent condition, probably made in the 1970's.

This classic Mandruzatto block vase, done in the Sommerso technique with layers of ruby in crystal glass, has 8 cut and polished facets. While a labor intensive technique, this style reveals the elegant beauty of the glass, and produces wonderful optics. Made in 1970s or 80s. It stands 6 1/2" h by 3" diameter. The piece is in excellent condition. It has "Made in Murano Italy" label.

Exquisite Barovier bowl and pestle set profusely filled with an aventurine gold spiral pattern on the interior with an exterior thread of blue/green lattimo. The rim of the bowl has a scissor cut which lends a dramatic modern aesthetic to the form. It is unusual to find these sets together. This one is a beauty! It is 7"x2"h, in excellent condition, unmarked, but clearly Barovier.
