This snack tray/sandwich plate was designed by Reuben Haley and produced by the Consolidated Glass Company in the late 1920's. The pattern is called 'Five fruits' and is one of Consolidated's scarce tableware lines. The tray is approximately 8 inches long and has a ring to hold the sundae dish. The color is green ceramic. A work of studio pottery, found in Southern California, the color a rich earthy brown, the vessel pierced intentionally by the artist to create naturalistic openings, similar to the distinctive style of Peter Voulkos (1924-2002). The piece measures 7 1/2" high by 5" diameter. The piece is signed on the bottom "Balvin 79". Surprisingly I do not see a studio potter by this name, but the artist was obviously talented and also familiar with Voulkos' acclaimed work.

This stylized interpretation of a waterbird illustrates the inspiration that the environment of the Venetian Lagoon has provided for centuries of artists. The waterbird sculpture is done in sommerso, with wine red blending masterfully into light cobalt blue. I have seen this design attributed to both Archimede Seguso and Alfredo Barbini. The waterbird is in good condition, no chips at the feet, polished base, unmarked.

This is a STERLING BABY SPOON with an ANGEL on the Handle manufactured by REED AND BARTON. The size is 3 9/16" long, the bowl measures 1 1/8" X 1 1/4". There is a Beautiful little Winged ANGEL on the top. This one is monogrammed on the back: C.A.R.J. in script. A vintage mid century modernist set of 2 salt dishes and 2 spoons by William Spratling in sterling silver and rosewood. These were in the Montgomery Ward 1943 Christmas Book and each sold for $4.75 including the spoon. From Spratling's 1st design period.
