Cotton kimono called "yukata" with bold polka dot pattern. The dye technique is called "chusen" which is one kind of stenciled paste-resist-dye. Several 10s of layers of cotton fabric can be dyed by pouring the dye liquid. Japanese Tsugaru / Wakasa lacquer box and six coasters, early 20th century lacquer work with a speckled and metallic surface, an old Honshu speciality. The pattern is rhombic, the lid of the box gold or bronze coloured, the coasters a reddish brown. The back of the coasters is black and slightly structured. Diameter of coasters "3 ¼ / 9.5 cm and of box "5 / 12.5 cm. Condition: small loss of lacquer to the rim of the lid, otherwise fine.

A long woman’s summer obi made of thin silk, woven in jacquard and openwork techniques with chrysanthemums or asters interlaced with fences of plaited bamboo leaves. On this, in Yuzen dye technique, imitating an ink drawing, several areas painted with cart wheels floating in waves.
The obi has been opened; a practice quite common in order to have the material cleaned. There is a paper (dry) cleaner’s tag on the obi.

This is or in the style of a Japanese mid century banko ware round hanging wall pocket vase still showing old wooden beads, frayed threads attached, and illegible mark. This banko hanging vase is in a hunter green background with 2 irises in the front and 3 irises on the other side. Japanese miniature black Raku Tea Bowl or Chawan in signed wooden box, Ca. 1980, the tea bowl measures 1 3/8" high, 2 1/8" diameter-top rim, impressed mark "Raku near the bottom and also top and inside the box, enclosed the paper information of the area of the kiln and how they made. Kiln crack on the white clay area where the impressed mark is located, but not on the black glaze inside the bowl.
