This bare foot fisherman is 8” high (9“ high with base), 2 ¼” wide and 1 1/8” in depth. It is a middle 20th century product. The long bearded fisherman wears an old style coat and pants. His right hand is holding a fish on a string; his left hand is holding a long fishing pole. It is in excellent condition.

This vintage textile is from Bamiyan province, Afghanistan and measures 25.5 x 26 cm. Embroidered in pastel-colored silk thread on a fine white linen, it depicts in satin stitch the triangular shapes that are typical of Hazara embroidery. A charming Chinese child's padded wind hat with the face of a tiger on the front. The tiger is a fierce animal which protects children from evil. Called a wind hat because of the protection it gives to the back of the neck, this hat is made of silk and embroidered with a butterfly on each side. This is a very elegant and high quality Japanese silk obi from Nishijin, Kyoto. The dimensions of the obi are 12 1/4" wide and 160 3/4" (13'4 3/4") long. About two-thirds of the front (104" long) is woven with gold.
