Hand spun, hand woven Japanese Tsumugi silk obi. This obi was made from a full obi roll without being cut; the front fabric was turned into the back and the sides of obi were simply sewn together without padding inside. The design area covers exactly half of the front. New Condition (almost). Dimensions: 11 3/4" x 10'8" (128")
This very nice boxwood statue with a fitted hard wood base is a mid 20th century product. It depicts a legendary Chinese figure called Ji Gong with one hand holding a wine bottle and the other hand petting his pet lion. It is 9 ½” high (with base is 10 7/16” high), 7 ¾” wide and 4” thick. As the story goes, Ji Gong was a Buddhist of the Southern Song; his dates are 1148~1209. His original name was Li Xin-Yuan. He came from Tai-Zhou in modern Zhe Jiang province, Lin-Hai county...
A wonderful Chinese hat stand, painted in the Qianjiang Vase style, soft pastel enamels of colored hues of lavender and moss green for the clothing, done with the perfect flesh tone of peach to accentuate the facial details, makes this a must have. Old Japanese Tsumugi fabric, silk pongee with a dragon design, 14 1/2" x 110". There is a 4 1/2" cut half way (location of the cut is 55" from one end), damage on the edge (runs on 30" from one end) is shown in photos #1, 9, #10.
Small sweet container in the shape of a miniature kaioke, a box for the Japanese shell matching game. The outside engraved with flowers, the inside of the lid with a gilt kamon, maybe a sakura family crest, and an inscription. The base marked jungin (pure silver) and signed. Condition: the lid with a tiny dent. Dimension: 5 cm high, 5.5 cm long, weight: 90 g.
Charming set of 5 small porcelain Kutani ware plates, two with black and gold rims and scenes of birds and flowers, three with black, gold and orange rims have scenes of noble man and attendant sitting by waterfall, mark of backs, circa 1930's.

This is a silk meisen Haori which is heiyo-gasuri. As for the heiyo-gasuri, warps and wefts are stencil printed separately and then machine-woven. Heiyo-gasuri made it possible to make more vivid, colorful and free design. It has reddish brown flowers with gray and yellow in beige ground. It has silk lining with beautiful stencil-printed flowers pattern and hand-braided cords in front. In excellent condition. Mid 20th century. 128cm x 78cm
