Typical of the mountainous Swat valley in northern Pakistan, this cushion cover ("thakia" in Urdu) is distinguished by a purple cotton background embroidered in a bright pink, with yellow and sage highlights. Embroidered in vivid turquoise silk floss with a top stitch of golden silk floss, this woman's shawl ("phulkari") from Swat Valley measures 97 cm x 198 cm and is in excellent condition. The designs are stylized rosettes with densely embroidered borders and a medallion motif in the center. Black is the dominant color for the background of Swati embroideries, which share many motifs in common with the embroidery from Hazara district...

Chinese Porcelain Sang de boeuf, Iron Red puppy dog with Celadon glaze, Ca. 1930's, 3 1/4" high, 4" wide x 1 3/4" deep, with curled tail and bell in front of the neck. Underglaze Ox blood and celadon glaze and bottom is unglazed. The condition is good, no damages.

As the Hazara district is situated between Punjab and Swat, the embroidery of this area is stylistically very similar to that of the Swat Valley. However, these pieces are generally more complex in design and construction. This piece is embroidered on both sides with silk on a cotton background in a predominantly geometric pattern...

This hand made, gold plated over silver, lapis lazuli bracelet is 7 inches long and 3 quarters of an inch wide. There are seven lapis lazuli pieces surrounded by a wired floral design. The workmanship is wonderful and it is in great shape. It is a 1930~1945 product and came from the jewelry collection of a retired Hong Kong jeweler. The back has a woven pattern.

This is a bed decoration from northern Afghanistan made by Uzbeks of the Lakai tribe. Traditionally these textiles were placed between layers of bedding quilts at the back of the yurt. This segusha measures 72 x 80 x 115 cm when folded into a triangle, and the embroidery is silk thread on faded red cotton edged with silk fringes, combining satin stitch with long and short stitch...

Cinnabar is getting very hard to find, this lovely specimen even has a reticulated translucent very pale celadon carved stone, done in a floral pattern. In excellent condition despite a few dings, the cinnabar is completely intact. It measures 6" X 3.5" x 1.75 inches high. Dated to about Circa 1920, this vintage Chinese treasure is sure to increase in value over time. Note: Any white spec in the photos are reflections from the camera.

A Chinese famille-verte enamelled porcelain brushpot, with multiple warriers on horse and feet. Scenes separated by a band around the pot with a ruyi head top border and a wave bottom border. The inside and base glazed white, the rim left unglazed. No markings.

Age: Mid 19th century (Qing Dynasty)

Condition: This was once used as a lamp, so the base has a small hole, along with a further small hole at the bottom...
