From our Southeast Asia Collection, an important and magnificently large, published, inscribed and dated Burmese temple Buddha, Mandalay School, constructed of fabulously carved hardwood coated in reddish-brown lacquer and gilt, depicting Buddha seated in padmasana position with his right hand in bhumisparsa mudra, elevated upon a single tier base with iron temple security rings, and bearing a raised-lacquer dedication inscription that essentially translates as follows: "Wish-fulfilling Kabalon ...

Measuring 8 x 36.5 cm, this embroidered band from northern Afghanistan was hand-embroidered by Uzbek women in an exceptionally fine cross stitch on a pumpkin linen background. Condition is excellent. Estimated age early to mid 20th century.

A pair of pre-war Japanese hand painted Satsuma style bowls. One depicts a samurai holding a sword with skeletons at his side. The other depicts a lord carrying a vase. Both bowls are irregularly shaped. Not signed and in very good condition. H: 2 ¼ inches, Diam: 5 ½ inches

Japanese pottery tsubo vase. An earthy, drab gray-green glaze on porcelaneous body with thin iron wash and with bold, rich red iron oxide glaze painted floral decoration on opposing sides of the tsubo form with thickly potted shoulder rising to a broad, everted rim. Two character impressed artist's mark inside the foot appears to read Kazan ('Ka' being the 10 stroke character also read as "hana".) A pleasant, substantial feel when held. Excellent condition. Height, 9 3/4 inches (24.76 cm)

A finely done Chinese hardwood box with burlwood square inlaid sections on the side. The box inside is covered with a fabric cushioned interior and partitioned to put small objects inside.

Japanese Brass Ash Rake for Hibachi during Tea Ceremony for moving ash around the charcoal, 1930's, 7" high, 4" wide-bottom, short handle, wide bottom, rather heavy Brass rake for Hibachi, shows wears around the tip of the rake.

A lovely and whimsical Japanese print by artist Mayumi Oda (1941-present) titled "September Afternoon", numbered 12/50 and signed all in pencil. She is widely loved for her female empowering works, many of which are currently part of the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, New York, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and more. Laid down on wooden board for flat presentation.

Japanese clay doll, Kabuki doll with a dragon. 13"h x 9 1/2" at the widest.

This type of clay dolls are somehow all originated from the Fushimi clay doll of the Kyoto area. Fushimi dolls were originally sold as souvenirs to the pilgrims on the road of Fushimi Kaidou from Kyoto to Fushimi Inari Shrine in the early Edo period (1600-1868). When the hina dolls were still very limited to a few wealthy people in early 1900s, these clay dolls were for the regular people...

A lovely Japanese fruitwood tray produced in the late Taisho period. The scene was hand carved with a thin gold gilt applied in the carved areas. The tray was made from one piece of wood and has a beautiful warm patina. In excellent condition, it measures 10" diameter and the rim is 1.5" high.

A vintage Chinese miniature model chair. Made of huanghuali wood and with a woven seat. In the classic folding ox bow form.

Wood spoon, its handle finely carved in the shape of a standing female figurine. Nice age patina. Ifugao tribes, Northern Luzon Island, Philippines archipelago. Height: 18 cm. The spoon is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Very good condition. Provenance: Zemanek Munster tribal art auction sale # 77.

Cambodian Rare Khmer Lug Handle pot with a thick green black glaze. The body in a grey stoneware with heavy banding covered in a wonderful thick black green glaze that dripped down the lower body. The pot is undamaged thick heavy with a nice feel. From the collection of BBC news personality Victoria Graham collected in China prior to 1983. H 6" W 6"

This lovely white Hagi chawan rests firmly on a wari kodai or “split foot.” The crackled milky glaze varies in consistency across the curves and contours of the bowl with some areas tending towards a faint brown, adding an interesting dimension to the landscape.
