This very nicely molded mid 20th century Guan-Yin statue is 9 5/8” high, 5 ¼” wide and 2 ½” thick. It depicts Guan-Yin holding a Ruyi seated on a lotus surrounded rock. A basket containing fish sits on her left side and three fish hold her right sleeve. The artist’s seal is on the back of her robe. Aside from a small chip from a fish tail, it is in great condition.

Unusual early Showa period (1930s) ceramic sake cup made in nerikomi (agateware) technique, its body with vertical grooves all around the perimeter. Nerikomi (translated as “mix and pull up”) is achieved by laminating different colored clays together and throwing them on a wheel to develop a swirling and spiraling effect. Beautifully made, wonderful patterns, glazed on the inside for safe drinking, inscribed by the potter the bottom, very pleasant to hold...

A Chinese "Robins Egg" glazed linghzi waterpot in the form of a ruyi-shaped head of a lingzhi fungus, with a bat at the rim and a large chilong on the opposite rim. Glazed all over with the base rim left unglazed.

Ikebana basket (hanakago) made of dark brow varnished bamboo wickerwork, elongated rounded shape, with a handle made of three varnished wooden branches. Thicker bamboo braids on the four sides. A 1920's Wakasa lacquer clam trinket box. Both sides match and the two pieces fit together perfectly. Dating from the 1920's, it measures 4.75" across, 2.25" high, 3.75" front to back. Wakasa craftsman developed the process of layering lacquer coats of different colors during the Edo period.
