Meisen kimono with kasuri red and black rectangular pattern. It has red red silk lining, so probably made in 1930s. In excellent condition. 124cm x 154cm

Japanese obi, nagoya style, painted with two noh masks on soft satin silk. The base color is a gentle pink/wisteria color with earth-tone. Taisho/Early Showa.

Se-ate (kind of vest only for back) hand-woven of mawata (floss silk) and vegetable indigo dyed. It is very light and warm so that was worn under kimono in cold weather or in cold region. In excellent condition. Late 19th to mid 20th century. 32cm x 54cm

A colorful Japanese Art Deco man's juban (under kimono), comprising a crazy quilt pattern of wonderful period hand-woven silk crepe fabrics in rich colors of indigo, red, green and purple, and brown, circa 1930, decorative trim and frog clasp, hand stitched, blue silk lining. Measurements: Sleeve tip to tip-48", shoulder to bottom hem-49"; A beautiful example of Art Deco fabrics in fair condition with frayed silks and lining fading, easily restored. Bamboo flower basket with a water container (otoshi) which is also made of bamboo. Otoshi has no water leaking and has nice color. Two pieces of yogi (bedding) which are hand-sewn by a girl student at the sewing school which were established around 1880. It is called "hinagata" and generally one third of measurement of a real one. The left one is sodenashi yogi (sleeveless top cover) and the right one is yogi (top cover with sleeves). The purpose of making sewing samples is efficiency for time and material. It has been made till 1940s in the sewing school of which students are mostly girls...

A large papier mache lacquered plaque or tray made for export or sale to foreigners during the early 20th Century. This raised relief design incorporating the "Satsuma cross" motif is very common on low grade tea and coffee sets made in vast quantities for export during the 1920s and 1930s. It is unusual to see this brocade style pattern depicted in this medium. Condition - good...
