Cinnabar is getting very hard to find, this lovely specimen even has a reticulated translucent very pale celadon carved stone, done in a floral pattern. In excellent condition despite a few dings, the cinnabar is completely intact. It measures 6" X 3.5" x 1.75 inches high. Measuring 46 x 47 cm this textile forms the bodice of a Hazarajat nomad's shirt (kamiz). The embroidery is an intricate combination of satin stitch (or straight stitch) and an extremely finely worked ladder stitch worked by hand on an ivory linen background. Mirrors ("shisha") are strategically placed to ward off the evil spirits ("djinn"). Estimated age: early to mid 20th century. Condition is excellent.

Smart-looking "No. 250 Coldseal" aluminum cocktail shaker by Kraftware, ca. 1946. The shape is very interesting, tapering from a narrow footed base to broader shoulders and a bell-shaped top.
