This is a pretty depression glass amber Normandie, aka Bouquet and Lattice, tea or coffee cup and saucer made by Federal Glass from 1933 to 1939. This cup measures 3 3/4 inches in diameter. The saucer measures 5 3/4 inches in diameter. Both the cup and saucer are in very good condition with no chips, cracks or scratches. Be sure to search our other Federal depression glass available. This vintage textile is from Bamiyan province, Afghanistan and measures 25.5 x 26 cm. Embroidered in pastel-colored silk thread on a fine white linen, it depicts in satin stitch the triangular shapes that are typical of Hazara embroidery. The continuous supplementary-weft technique makes this textile reversible and either face may be used as the front. Condition: Excellent (e.g., no tears, holes, stains). Estimated age: probably 1950-1960.
From our Southeast Asia Collection, a small but fine Burmese ink on palm leaf sutra with thayo embossed wood covers, depicting Buddha under the Bodhi Tree of Enlightenment flanked by two adorants in the center medallion, then encircled by disciples and zoomorphic entities in the surrounding images. The reverse side contains sutra writings in Burmese script, not yet translated...
