This Shino ware sake cup was made about 50 years ago in the well-known Suigetsu Gama kiln which was built by one of the greatest Japanese potters of all times, Toyozo Arakawa (1894-1985). He was designated as Living National Treasure by Japanese Government in 1955 and well-known for reviving Shino glazes of Momoyama and Early Edo periods.
The signature of his kiln is stamped at the bottom of the cup.
The original wooden box with the signature of his kiln name is also included.

From our Chinese Monochrome Collection, a beautiful white porcelain Guanyin, Goddess of Compassion and Mercy, executed in the style of early 20th century slip-cast blanc de chine from Dehua, but actually a later vintage-era white porcelain example from Jingdezhen in Jiangxi Province...
This elegant and amazing sculptural bowl form, attr Fratelli Toso in the 1970s, has a strong presence to accent its environment. Done in the Sommerso technique, with clear, pale blue and red, the free-form flow reminds the viewer that glass is a liquid. Tip to tip is 12", height 6", width 5". Bottom is polished. It is in excellent condition.
A sizable rectangular platter covered in pale mottled earth-toned glaze by Shigeya Iwabuchi (1925-1993) enclosed in the original signed wooden box. A simple slab of clay, 1 inch (2.2 cm) thick, curled up in the corners. The simplicity is refreshing, the disparate surface natural and cool to the eye. Chinese cabinet from the Shandong province made from jumu wood (elm). The two front swinging doors open with brass pulls on long, brass panels. The shelved interior is very roomy. The sides of the cabinet have been lacquered in a muddled red.
Dates from the 19th century. Very difficult to get these pieces. No export out of China.

Japanese framed woodblock print by Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1991) of a bridge and a quiet lake in the evening. Lanterns illuminate cherry blossom trees among the darker color palette. Print is laid down and framed. Artist's chop and signature with title in right margin.

Large set of foxhunting dummy boards made by English company Duberry & Whatsit. Includes 12 pieces total, 6 horses and 6 fox hounds.
Paper on fiberboard. Largest horse/rider measures 12" tall. Hounds measure approx. 6" tall.
Each horse/rider and dog has a name. Made in the early 80's a hard set to find.
Very good vintage condition. One hound has paper peeling off leg and one is missing a 1/4" chip in his tail. On removeable bases.
A finely crafted pumpkin shaped Zisha clay Yixing stoneware teapot decorated on one side with applied pumpkin vine decoration. This item carries three seal marks which all bear the name Shi Yu Zhen.

A porcelain vase hand painted in traditional Chinese style with a continuous mountain and river landscape and accompanying poem. This item was probably made, circa 1950-1975, during the third quarter of the 20th Century.
Condition: the base has been drilled for a lamp conversion; no further damages and no restoration.

Each cake is molded with designs of scholars on the fronts and raised calligraphy on the reverse. The designs on the front are all gilded in two shades of gold, and the reverse has gilt seals and some script gilded as well. Each piece is unused and is in good condition.

The bowl is 15-1/2 (39 cm) diameter, 4 inches (10.5 cm) tall. The box is worn but still sturdy, and the bowl is in perfect condition. Koichi graduated from the Tokyo University of Fine arts Where he later taught), and took up an apprenticeship under (later) Living National Treasure Tomimoto Kenkichi...
