19th century netsuke of a sitting boy holding a turtle with one hand, and trying to break its shell with a stone that he holds in the other. Unusual subject, strong early carving, wonderful wear consistent with age, beautiful patina with yellowing on the back, where netsuke was touching silk of the kimono. A cast iron beast, probably a tiger. The elongated shape of the animal, the size, the sagging of the back, suggest that it is a brush rest. There are a lot of modern cast iron copies, which may be the case here, but we can certify that this little tiger has been in the Sakura collection for at least forty years, which proves nothing. Sculpture smal but powerfull. Good condition. Length: 85mm The price is depending on the doubt.

The print is about a Japanese mythology. Original mounting. AS IS condition.

Offered is this beautiful, 'Osiris'-type art glass vase with applied handles, made most likely, by Stevens & Williams in England, around 1890. Probably the 'Pull-up' machine, invented by John Northwood (when he was Artistic Director at Stevens & Williams), was used for the zippered pattern on the vase. The vase is 9 inches (23 cm) tall and 5 inches wide. It is in good condition. The handles on the vase fluoresce in a gentle-green coloration, typical of 19th century soda-lime glass...

This majolica pitcher has an unusual anchor and chain pattern around the top and pale pink flowers with green leaves on a cream background in the center. It has a brown basket weave bottom. There is some clay shrinkage on the inside. See picture for details. There are no marks.

Stevens & Williams Vaseline Opalescent Epergne stands 13" tall, made in the 1880's! The base is 8" wide. Has a couple of very small bubbles within the bowl. Otherwise, it has no chips or scratches. This is a fine grayish lavender opaline vase. Circa 1900. It is 7 1/4" tall by 3 3/4" wide. The inside diameter of the mouth opening is 3" while the collar is only 1 3/4" in diameter.

There are no chips, no cracks and no repairs to this item. This item is in excellent condition. The gold decoration is worn.
