A rare carved hardwood plaque depicting a heavily tattooed Maori figure with top-knot and holding a Mere (traditional short club); the eyes are inset with Paua (abalone) shells. This item was acquired with the large mask (item #201 in our catalogue) and is signed with the same initials. Condition: very good - the left toe of the left foot is missing; no other damages and no repairs. 75cm (29.5 inches) high.
