A folding pillow made of wood used on travel. It has two cushions made of cotton velour. Women had a largely fixed hair with wearing kimono, so this kind was used. It has carved letters "Beppu" and the scenery, so that it was made or sold there. Beppu is famous for onen, hot spa, located in Oita prefecture in Kyushu. In good condition. A baby's kimono made of cotton with katazome (stencil-resist-dye), which is imitating shibori pattern. It has thick cotton lining which is from the cold district, such as Tohoku. Generally, in good condition but two belts are damaged and stains in the lining. The 20th century. W:69cm, L:64cm

Cotton kimono with katazome (stencil-resist-dye) pattern butterfly crest and dancer. It is made from cloth for tenugui (towel). It has rather thick texture and in good condition except for some dirty line in the neck. The first half of the 20th century. 118cm x 131cm

Cotton cloth with shibori (tie-dye) seigaiha (waves) pattern and dyed with akane (madder). In excellent condition but akane color is faded and one mending patch and a few tiny holes. The first half of the 20th century. 35cm x 136cm

A pair of miniature wood sculpture of Ebisu and Daikoku which are two of the Japanese Seven Dieties believed to bring good luck. Ebisu is a diety of fishery which brings plentiful catch and Daikoku is a diety of agriculture which brings good harvest. Both are in excellent condition with an original wood box. 20th century. H:5cm each, w:3.6cm each.

A small bag made of ohyo fiber, one kind of elm. It is made in Asahikawa in Hokkaido. Warps and wefts are hand-plied. It has a wood carved decoration. In excellent condition with an original carton box. 20th century. 20.5cm x 10.5cm x 5cm

Boro asa noragi (field wear) made of hand-plied asa (hemp). It has indigo dyed cotton cloth in the buttom and some mending patches. The first half of the 20th century. 63cm x 90cm

A pair of boro tabi (socks) made of cotton and indigo dyed. Both soles are lost. The first half of the 20th century. Sashiko is hand-sewn but the light blue reinforcement cloth is machine sewn. L:24cm, H:12cm

A set of four fans (uchiwa) made of bamboo and washi (Japanese hand-made paper). Each has hand-painted pictures and signs such as three kabuki "kumadori" which is special makeup of the kabuki player and Otahuku. All have the same written seal marks, however the name of the artist is not clear. Two are painted with kakishibu (persimmon tannin) 20th century. In excellent condition. W:30.5cm H:35.5cm

Cotton kimono with geometric pattern. The weaving technique is "Kobai-ori" which is woven with thick and thin yarn loosely so that it is translucent. In excellent condition. Mid 20th century. 142cm x 124cm

A pair of boro tabi (socks) with sashiko. The lining is thin cotton cloth. It has four metal straps. Both soles are lost. The first half of the 20th century. H:12.5cm, L:27cm

Thin wool unlined kimono with katazome dots pattern. The wool kimono was made in 1950s. The ground is off-white and dots are red. It looks it was barely worn and in excellent condition. 1950s. 130cm x 154cm

Yuzen hinagata (sample book of yuzen-zome) of kosode (kimono with narrow opening of wrists) which is a reprinted edition of Edo kosode hinagata. It has 20 pages and 40 Yuzen-zome kosode designs. The book is made of washi (Japanese handmade paper.) Published by Yoneyama-do in Tokyo in 1927. In excellent condition. 18.5cm x 27cm x 0.5cm

Arai-hari meisen cloth for one kimono. Arai-hari means a kimono is unsewn, washed and dried on the board, which is a traditional way of cleaning kimono. In excellent condition except for minor spots in one part (10th image). It is strong enough so that good for remaking. Girl's meisen kimnono with asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern, whose warps and wefts are stencil-resist dye. It has tucked seams in the shoulder and the body, however it has originally general size of the woman's kimono. In good condition. Mid 20th century. 114cm x 113cm
