Early & rare this vintage sterling silver, turquoise and coral bracelet was designed circa 1930-48 by Matilde Poulat. The dove (palomas)at the center is raised so it appears to be inflight. Poulat signed her designs Matl, a variation on the Aztec word for water. The center panel is 1 1/2" across x 1 1/4" high. Length is 7 1/4". Each link measures 1" high. Hallmarked Matl & Matl 0.925. Beautiful, natural patina that only comes with age. All stones are original. One of the small turquoise stones has a hairline noticed only on close inspection. This design is pictured on page 220 of MEXICAN SILVER by Penny Morrill & Carole Berk. Matl designs are included in the permanent 20th century Mexican silver collections at LACMA & MFA Boston among others.

The 12 hand carved crescent shaped stones are framed in 970 sterling silver. Both stones and silver are in beautiful condition with no issues. Both clasp & safety chain are tight and secure. Heavy at 100 grams, this design is comprised of braided silver & copper bands framed by thick silver wire. The bracelet is 1 14" high. Interior measures 5 3/4" end to end with a 1 1/4" gap opening at the back. 1930's hallmarks read 980 WS TAXCO. Beautiful vintage condition and patina. Exquisite & rare this lifelike sterling silver, copper & brass angelfish brooch was designed in the late 1930's by Margot Van Voorhies for her husband's taller Los Castillo. This wearable work of art measures 3 3/4" high X 3 1/4" across & weighs 42 grams. The finely detailed angelfish floats through waving brass seaweed above a copper conch shell. Beautiful condition with excellent patina. Pin back and safety catch are tight and secure. When her marriage to Antonio Castillo ended Margot went on to open her own famous taller - MARGOT DE TAXCO. This sterling silver & blue Nevada turquoise belt buckle was designed & signed circa 1950's by Native American Hopi designer Preston Monongye (1927-87). Buckle measures 3" X 2" & weighs 74 grams, 2.6 oz. The large Burnham turquoise nugget measures 1 1/2" X 1" and is in perfect condition. Monongye's 1950 hallmark is impressed on the reverse. Buckle swivel and hook work smoothly and securely. The tufa cast silver has a gorgeous vintage patina. The buckle will take up to a 1 1/2" wide strap. The contemporary hand tooled leather strap pictured is included. This strap is 1 3/8" wide & is size 34 but measures 38" long. Further information on Monogye and his hallmarks can be seen on p. 231 in Bille Hougart's LITTLE BOOK OF MARKS ON SOUTHWESTERN SILVER. Preston Monongye designs are included in the collections of the Smithsonian Institute museum, the Heard Museum, and the Denver Art Museum among several others.
