Antique 19th century Russian Orthodox Christian brass traveling triptych folded icon" Deesis with Selected Saints."

Opened, the central leaf shows Christ enthroned in the attitude of blessing with Gospels, flanked by John the Baptist and the Virgin. The left leaves display St. John the Theologian, the saints' prelates Nicholas the Wonderworker and Metropolitan Philip.

Authentic antique 19th-century Russian Orthodox brass traveling icon "The Mother of Good Joy of All Who Sorrows." The central figure is the Virgin Mary holding a warder in her right hand, with groups of people on either side. At the top is an image of Jesus Christ as the King of Kings.

This piece is a fantastic specimen of Southeast Asian art from the 12-13th century Khmer culture. It was cleaned several years ago by the previous owner but does retain some of its original patina. It appears to have been crafted in two pieces and is cast from either a copper or possibly a silver alloy - though I have not had it tested. It is just under 19 cm tall and weighs 335 grams.

Chinese Han Dynasty Gilt Bronze Chimera Wonderful Chinese Han Dynasty figure of a chimera. The mythical creature is whimsically posed with it's head turned over it's shoulder and it's mouth wide with it's tongue out. It's feet are hooves and on it's back are wings. Made of bronze and gilded, beautiful patina, eyes are made of inlaid turquoise.

A Mokugyo is a wooden percussion instruments that is used by monks at Buddhist Temples (in Japan, China and Korea) during Buddhist ceremonies that involve the recitation of sutras or mantras to maintain rhythm during chanting. It is made from mostly KUSU (Camphor) wood. For large temple Mokugyos such as this one, the wood must be at least 100-years old...

A Russian icon, Theotokos of Kazan, also Our Lady of Kazan, depicts the Theotokos Mary with the Christ, produced in wood, tempura, silvered brass oklad with cloisonné enamels on the nimbus. Rare and important head of a bearded centurion wearing his helmet, his face showing a strong and fierce expression. Polychrome wood. Eyes made of glass painted inside. Of Spanish origin, dating back to the 18th century, this head was found in the Philipines in 1978. Height: 30.3 cm.
