A lovely late 19th c tightly woven wool Tibetan prayer mat with Buddhist symbols, An excellent example from a private collection.

Antique Balouchi balisht front, in excellent full pile un-restored condition, with natural dyes, complete with flat-weave ends. Great color palette, including the use of green. It appears to date from the end of the nineteenth century. 22" by 37".

A very nice pair of antique hand knit blue and white cotton socks with a initials at the top. I think the initials are WWF. The stockings are knit with three different weight cotton yarn the heaviest is the wonderful true blue that is the foot and ankle where all the wear is and the area where you want the most cushioning. The lighter blue is medium weight and the white is the lightest where you don't want it to bind. The have been used but not abused...

Beautiful antique Afshar chanteh, last quarter of the nineteenth century, complete with flat-woven back and tassels, all natural dyes including a beautiful green. This bag measures roughly 12" by 16".

This is the upper part of a kamishimo; samurai's formal attire without the trousers. It was worn over a kosode (kimono with small sleeves) with trousers. The texture is hemp like; coarse, slightly translucent, thick threads (thicker than other kamishimo). The family crest is the feathers of a hawk. Kami-shimo (upper-lower) that we currently have are quite dandy and fashionable. The amazing thing is the work that is involved when making these fabrics...

This sweet little brown and red doll quilt is in exellent condition with just a little fraying on one edge...see close up. I like to see signs of age like this because it shows it really old. When fabric has been folded and washed and ironed the folds start breaking down the fabric, sometimes aging is a good thing. The quilt is 6" square and is backed with a double pink calico.

Wonderful Art Nouveau style 19th century silk hand-embroidery of a golden hair maiden (a bride?) holding a bouquet of pink flowers, framed within a lacy tree arbor and standing atop a blanket of daisies. Lovely pastel colors in soft shades of pink, green, blue and yellow make this piece feminine and serene. Unusual handmade frame with glass, front and back cut in a stylized V shape. A beautiful handmade tablecloth and napkins set of Italian needle lace of Pointe de Venice type, with the characteristic scrolling floral patterns with additional floral motifs worked in relief (embroidered).

The condition is excellent, with no tears or other flaws of anything but minor note. The tablecloth is 106" by 70" and the 12 napkins are 21" by 21".

A large double Irish chain pieced quilt with the chain consisting of red squares enclosing yellow ones on a white ground. The back is turned over the top to form the edge. The red border quilted with swags encloses a white border with a running feather wreath. Inside are red saw teeth and then the chains across the field. Cotton seeds visible through the back side. The white squares enclosed by the chain are quilted with a number of different circular motifs...

Rare 18th century New England sampler from Hillsborough, New Hampshire. Circa 1784. Size: 10.5 inches x 8.25 inches. An early needlework sampler made by Rhoda Symonds at age 16. Rhoda Symonds was born in Essex, Massachusetts in 1768 and moved with her family to Hillsborough, New Hampshire in either 1772 or 1773. The sampler indicates that she was aged 16 when she created it, suggesting a date in 1784...

An antique embroidered silk with cotton back bed hanging or valance from the Xuantong era in the late Qing period 1908 - 1912. This beautiful fringed antique valance has fine embroidery, including gold thread and multi-color silk thread depicting flowers, butterflies, fish, people and many other symbolic figures and images, with fine short and long stitch embroidery and extraordinarily fine seed stitching. It is mounted on a pinkish cotton backing and it has a fine 7" fringe and edge netting...

Someone with a sense of humor gave this dear old flannel sheep blue floss eyes and brown eye lashes all the way around. She is big, 10" long including his tail and 6" tall even with her legs askew. Poor design or bad eating habits preventing her from standing on all fours. She has a great smile on her face and floppy ears with finishing stitches around the edges. She is a very sweet old gently played with late 19th C. toy lamb.

Very nice poplar Shaker bonnet with a label marking the size as a 5. They were also made in size #6 and size #7. The bonnets were sold by the Shakers in their gift shops but they were not made by the Shakers. This one is in very good condition. It does have a few brown stains at the top of the brim edge, see photo. This is just about as good as you can get for this type of Shaker bonnet.

A three-color overshot coverlet with a pattern of snowballs and stripes on the dark ground side. The border on three sides is wavy lines and the fringe is a continuation of the white warp threads on the bottom and the red and blue weft threads on the sides...

A fine and rare example of the antique, circa 1850 "kupka - kupke," a cap with wig. This type of Kupka was worn by well-to-do religious Jewish women on the Sabbath and holidays in Poland in the 19th century.

This magnificent Kupka is finely embellished in the highest quality of Spanier Arbeit, with embroidery of intricate patterns with gilt silver thread and bullion, decorated with small globular silver bids, and an interior with silk lining.

This antique Amish mat is hand braided and really nicely hand sewn. It is in near perfect condition with some minor surface abrasion. It is very tightly braided and to the touch it feels like it has some wool in the fabric. The colors are a green/blue, pink and purple. I lies perfectly flat on the table. 10" by 13" Late 19th C.

This mid 19th century folk art crazy quilt is a wonderful mix of richly colored silks and hand embellished surface stitches. The back is a green cotton sateen fabric tied with floss. Eighty seven silk tags create a whimsical border around the entire piece. Taken from a house used as part of the Underground Railroad during the Civil War, we believe this piece was the energetic work of a child learning how to sew. Up for sale is a very large antique Chinese red silk wedding wall hanging / tapestry, embroidered with 2 large phoenixes, peonies, other birds, peaches, butterflies, and flowers executed in silk floss and gold wrapped threads. The tapestry is lined with red brocaded lining and 3.5" border along the edges. Overall is in excellent condition, no wear or fraying, no stains, vibrant colors ! Nice early blue and white cotton homespun handkerchief that has been used and loved and survived pretty well considering it is about 200 years old. It is a strong medium weight cotton with a nice sky blue dye giving nice contrast to the white. Antique Chinese embroidered silk tapestry- Additional details for item # 1340772

This is a very nice egg wash chintz brown calico bag with a tan linen lining. It has a ribbon trim across the top and around the edges of the bag. The edges only have a little of the ribbon trim left, it has worn off over the years. The bag is in really good shape and is not fragile, it could be really used. Or great to use to store items while hanging off a hook or peg rack. 10" by 13" not including the straps. Circa 1870-80

Antique Kurdish bagface or bagfront, dating from the last quarter of the nineteenth Century, offered in beautiful condition with full pile and all natural dyes. This saddlebag face measures 1'10" by 1'8" (57cms by 52cms). For the collector of Kurdish and other Oriental tribal trappings and rugs.

A wonderful exemplar of an Italian voided velvet textile, done in a deep red. Similar examples are shown in "European Textiles in the Keir Collection 400BC to 1800AD".

Beautiful Wall Hanging/Painting depicting Ganesh, some wear but good condition and highly decorative with good lighting. Size: H. 210cm x W. 83cm

This is a well washed and loved red calico doll quilt. It is mostly treadle machine stitched with some hand sewing. The backing is a brown and cream calico print with a brown calico boarder on both front and back. It is very soft, faded a couple of tiny holes that gives it that great old worn look. This is my kind of quilt, old and worn and I realize it is not for everyone. It is 16" square and is from the 1890's with a Pennsylvania verbal history. (I love it.)
