An exceptional ladder back Delaware Valleycahir with 4 slats, original red wash and splint seat, and well developed turnings.

The chair is in excellent original condition and structurally sound. As to be expected there are some losses to the splints. The height is 43", with a width of 20" and a depth of 18". The seat depth is 16" and 18 1/2" high.

Gorgeous Rare Japanese single section isho tansu (clothing chest) from Sado Island, made of kiri (paulownia) wood with translucent reddish orange lacquer finish, fantastic iron hardware including large and elaborate lockplates featuring phoenixes, safe door open to two small drawers, Meiji Period (circa late 1800's). Size: 44 1/2" high x 45 1/2" wide x 17 3/4" deep.

In the style of the floral school (rimpa) the decoration represents white and red chrysanthemum (kiku) flowers, treated in gofun, near a fence, on a background of white clouds and gold and silver dust. Period: Meiji. Late 19th century. Dimensions: 367 x H 172 cm.

An antique Japanese Kasane Tansu (2 section Kimono chest) made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cryptomeria) woods. All original hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute handles and Urushi lacquered body. Lock plates shaped in the form of the auspicious Paulownia leaf. Upper section has 2 drawers and a hinged safety door with two small drawers behind. Lower section has 2 full width drawers.

This is a beautiful vintage quarter sawed oak map cabinet, circa 1900. It has raised panels, and eleven drawers all together. It measures 34" tall x 42" wide x 27" deep and is in great condition.

A fine antique walnut corner cabinet with beautiful warm patina - though I suspect that it has been refinished somewhere along the road. Wood shelves; dentil molding; wood pegs still present; brass hinges, and closing clasps added. Double doors top and bottom. The feet have been cut somewhat. It has normal wear and tear of a piece of this age. The cabinet is at least 19th C, but may even be late 18th century...

A Pair of Antique Chairs found in New Mexico. Southwestern Santa Fe style. Measure about 32" high, 16" across, 17" seat height. These show wear, patina and age and have great, unique hand made construction.

This rare and wonderful table was made by John Henry Belter circa 1850-1860. It has a white marble top, and four c-scrolled legs - each one different. There is a dolphin, an eagle, a boar and a hound. The table measures 29" tall x 42" long x 32 3/4" deep. A table exactly like this one sold at Neal Auction in 2003 for $50,000. This is a very rare and wonderful piece of Americana.

A German, domed top chest with ornamental hand wrought iron hardware, heavily oxidized and worn original surface and paint, and marked in white “T Adam Schuch reifst nach New York”. The chest looks like 17th century work. The name and destination likely added in the 18th century upon immigration. Reasonably good decoration considering the history. Length, 35 inches. Height, 17 1/2 inches. Depth, 18 1/2 to 19 inches (varying due to movement of the wood at the joinings).

An antique 2 section Kimono chest (Isho Tansu) made of rare solid Kuwa (Mulberry) and Kiri (Paulwonia) woods. All original bronze and iron hardware. Two sliding doors with beautiful scrolling frame behind which lies a lift-off door, small drawer and a split level shelf with hand carved bamboo-like details. An antique Japanese small Kimono Tansu chest made of Kiri (Paulownia) and Sugi (Cyrptomeria) woods. All original Urushi lacquer finish and hand forged iron hardware including the Hirute style handles. This is a Austrian rural style chest, a so called carved " Bauerntruhe " from Styria. Softwood ( pine needle wood ) This piece from about 1750 originaly was only to open from upwards. To make this nice piece more useable for everydays use, there recentely was made 2 doors into the front side of the chest. These 2 doors are not visible, when they are closed. Pair of antique Japanese Inari foxes hand carved out of granite. Each has traces of the original mineral pigment. Also called zenko, these good spirit kitsune (foxes) are specifically associated with the goddess, Inari.
Believed to be both messengers and guardians, kitsune served Inari in her role as goddess of agriculture, specifically rice. Part of the folklore surrounding the fox is it’s ability to shape shift into human form...

18th Century Irish or English Mahogany oval shape Cross Banded tilt top Breakfast Table, 30" high, 51" x 42" wide, with Coromandel wood Cross Banded around the rounded edge, standing on the Pedestal with Cabriole Queen Anne legs with caster on the bottom. There are some dark small spots on the table top with age and useage, some wears on the edge but very solid and heavy table.

From our European Collection, a very large and imposing set of Renaissance Revival Armchairs, 19th century. These are made of either mahogany or walnut, with carved lion head motifs on the armrests, carved claw feet, and carved griffon-like motifs on the upper back. It's hard to appreciate the scale of these chairs as we have nothing else in the background for size comparison, but they are VERY LARGE....of almost throne-chair-like dimensions, standing over 6 feet tall, and they make for a drama...

Pair French Directoire style carved Mahogany Armchairs, Ca. mid 1800's, 36" high and 18" wide-back, 23" wide-front, 17 1/2" high-seat height, newly upholstered with greenish gold silk fabric and reed arm rest to the square block of interesting carved design.
