19th century tortoise shell box on 4 wooden bun feet. Still has with original key and lock works. In very good antique condition, there are some cracks throughout the tortoise shell. Made in Nagasaki and exported to Europe, where it was given as a Christmas present in 1867 - dedication and date engraved to the inside of the box lid. Measures: 6 " / 15.2 x 3 " / 7.3 cm, height 2/3 ” / 1.7 cm. Condition: the lid with cracks and some loss to the lacquer.
