This is a thickly cast, powerful hollow silver bead depicting a fanged bat, perforated for wearing, should one desire. Dating to between 1000-1400 AD, the piece measures 1-1/4" in width, and sits on a custom stand, which is included. Complete and intact, in excellent original condition. Ex Arte Primitivo, 2012.

These are five extremely rare copper skull bells/pendants that were found in an elite tomb at Monte Alban, Oaxaca in 1936. Each bell in about 1/2". They date to 1000-1500AD. Copper was mined largely from Guerrero. No cleaning or restoration, exactly as found. A must have for any pre-Columbian metallurgy collection.

This is a very fine and extremely rare pipe from Venezuela known as a pipas angulares de barro procedentes. There is only one book written on Aztec pipes. "Pipas Precortesianas" was written by Muriel N. Porter. Porter states that Aztec pipes are extremely scarce and "we can almost say that pipes were unknown." There is a drawing in this book of this class/type of pipe. Of course, tobacco wasn't available until the Spaniards introduced it...

A terrific set of three finely made silver vessels, Pre-Columbian Inca Empire, 13th.-15th. century AD.

The set consists of a larger and very attractive hammered silver bowl (11 cm. in diameter and 70 grams), along with two smaller items, a votive rattling beaker (5,8 cm. tall and 19,34 grams) and a small thick dish (5 cm. in diameter and 17,13 grams).

This extraordinarily rare Olmec Quartz dagger or possible bloodletter was found together with the above jade dagger. This limestone cement image of Quetzalcoatl was found by the famous Dr. Allen Heflin in September of 1954 and is so inscribed on the bottom. It still has its original obsidian eyes. It is 4" long. It is badly weathered, but the features are easily recognizable although the camera did not pick them up fully. It dates to 100BC-200AD. This is an extremely rare piece. I have not seen another.

This Olmec maskette is from Veracruz, Mexico. It dates to 1200-900BC. It measures 2" wide by 1 1/4" high by 1/2" deep. It depicts the classic were-jaguar with forehead cleft, almond shaped eyes, broad nose, mouth showing gums and teeth and a scrolled design that encircles the sides of the face. Measuring 3" in height, this cast bronze ceremonial knife dates to the period from 700-1000AD, and is from the South Coast of Peru. The upper border consists of a serpent bodied creature with fanged heads at both ends, each wearing a spiked crown. Deeply incised deity heads appear in profile at the top of each side of the blade. The piece has acquired a beautiful blue-green patina. An intact suspension loop is visible at the top,as shown in the photos.

This is a very rare projectile made from a stingray barb. It is 7 3/4" long. It was found in the Pacific Islands. It has beautiful patina. There is no damage or restoration. It is from the Dr. Raymond Thomas collection. I have only seen two of these in all my years of collecting. The other one is pictured on this site in my bone frame.

This Tunjo is 5 1/2" long. Tunjos are from the Musica culture, 900AD-1500AD. This culture inhabited the high plateau in the area of modern Bogota. Most Tunjos that survived are made from gold or tumbaga. Obviously, many were made from bone, but being an organic material, very few bone ones have survived. In fact, this is the only one I have ever seen. I have had several gold Tunjos and they are unique and beautiful and in much demand. Needless to say, bone Tunjos are extremely rare.
