Large and impressive silver 'temple' ring, Viking settlers from Scandinavia (Kingdom of the Rus or Kievan Rus), present day Ukraine, c. 800-1000 AD.

Beautiful and still wearable temple ring, in solid silver, which consists of a bow ring with a loop and three elaborately made knobbed beads. These rings were worn from a headband around the temples by Viking Rus women, hence the name Temple rings.

Another substantial Roman silver seal ring with a red carnelian intaglio, 1st.-3rd. cent AD

The ring a typical compressed Roman design and the carnelian stone engraved with a depiction of the Dioskouroi.

Size: c. 24 mm. wide and weighing 8.1 grams. The ring-size is c. 19 mm. x 16 mm., so it fits the typical ring-finger of a smaller male or a female hand.

Condition: Very fine, intact, but the stone was reset and there's chips to the silver-setting...

Rare head of a man with caricatural features. The man shows a bulged and furrowed forehead, deeply set beady eyes, a flattish nose with marked nostril, and fleshy lips. Strands of hair are brushed back from the forehead and from the temples.
The head fits into the Hellenistic grotesque tradition and may be related to the New Greek comedy.
