A very attractive large stamp seal of the hemispheric design / round gable form, Late Ubaid to Uruk period of central-northern Mesopotamia, 4th. millenium BC.
Finely polished seal in a nice black serpentine stone, and carved with a scarce and peculiar pattern of cross angles under symethric horisontal lines!

Condition: Nice VF, some smooth wear but intact and with a nice ancient patina...
Superb quality prehistoric, European stone hand axe-celt, Stone Age, Neolithic Period, dating from 3600 BC to 2200 BC.
This hand ax is extremely well-knapped and polished from creamy-beige flintstone. Its thick-butted form has a convex, almost semi-circular, nicely polished blade with a finely profiled cutting edge.

Rare handmade askos of lenticular body and truncated conical neck.
The lip around the spout is shaped as an oversized disc. Its back was bent by the potter to create space for an unusual ring handle of square cross-section.
Decorated with orange and purplish black bands alternating with very thin fillets and diamond patterns.

A lovely ancient Egyptian Scarab, c. 1400 BC, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 3/8” long (9 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Scarabs empowered life and resurrection and were often placed under mummy wrappings to protect the body and to help it resurrect. This Scarab comes in a jewelry display cup.
