Antique Medieval 12th-15th century A.D. hand-forged iron sickle, with slender blade and short flat tang.
This type of sickle was part of the equipment of mounted warriors, a tool useful during military expeditions to cut the grass for the horse. A knight should also have a leather or canvas bucket for watering the horse.

Ancient 5th -3rd century B.C. Scytho - Siberian (Siberian Scythian) solid silver belt plaque in the shape of a crouched feline perhaps a leopard fitted at the reverse with two loops for attachment. The two attachment loops are made of silver strips soldered to the rear of the plaque. The plaque is cast, then hand reshaped in repousse, pierced, and chased.

This piece is part of a collection we are posting on the site. These are often misidentified as crossbow arrow ends. However, to our knowledge no such items have ever been found associated with crossbow bolts. These particular pieces went over the ends of the wooden ribs in large parasols.
