A square plate lock with some fine, strictly gothic renaissance carved and punched iron decoration.

Mosaic glass pendant in the shape of a bearded head, surmounted by a large loop for attachment to a necklace. Phenicia, or Carthage, archaic period, 350 to 200 B.C. Height: 6.1 cm. Barely visible old accident, superbly restored, otherwise very good condition. NOTE: similar pendants are shown in the Antique Glass Collection of the Louvre Museum in Paris. This amazing piece is a decorated from horse bridle or strap link. It was part of a lot of antiquities from the Arthur M Sackler collection auctioned through Christies in New York. The original auction tags will accompany the piece. The Sackler catalog number is painted on the reverse of the piece. A lovely green ancient Egyptian Scarab, more than 2,300 years old, from the famous Mitry collection (see our Homepage). It is 1/2” long (12 mm) and made of steatite, an easy-to-carve stone that hardens when heated. Globular ribbed body with a shaped neck and handle...

This is a very unique bronze spear or lance point from the Amlash (or possibly Luristan) culture in ancient Iran(ca 2000 BC). It measures 132mm and weighs 48 grams. It has a fantastic malachite patina. It has four incised rings around the base of the blade and then remnants of two bronze rings which undoubtedly aided in the attachment of the point to a wooden shaft. It has some damage to the edges but is an incredible piece nonetheless.

A lot of 4 attractive larger size Roman bronze military fibulas, 1st.-3rd. cent. AD.

The lot includes a very nice Roman bow fibula (53 mm. long), perfectly intact, good metal and ring attached to the pin; a Roundel fibula, (diameter 36 mm.) intact; a large bow fibula with intact pin (70 mm.!), small repair, and a Dolphin-shaped fibula, incl. pin (5,1 cm). repaired.

Nice green patinas.

A tanged 'Luristan' bronze dagger from Ancient Near East, Caspian Sea Area, Bronze age, dating to 2nd mill BC.

The dagger with rounded shoulders, a short tang and central midrib. The top of the blade has two holes for fastening rivets.

Condition: Fine green patina with some roughness to the edges. The blade has a bend at the the tip, as seen on pictures.

This is a bronze age harpoon from Northern India dating to circa 1500 BC. This magnificent piece weighs 303 grams and measures roughly 249 mm in length (the smallest one I currently have in stock). It has a fantastic patina that suggests a high copper content and no signs of damage or repair. I am listing four of these harpoons this week. Don't miss out on this incredible find.

The small collection includes seals carved in a variety of stones; there's a gable seal from the 4th. millenium, several early rectangular seals with cross patterns, some with grit-patterns and a couple of later stone seals, one with a 'sun' pattern, probably from the Persian hemisphere.

Very interesting Roman pottery oil lamp with a Roman empress or high born lady on the discus, ca. mid 2nd. century AD.

The lamp can be dated quite accurately since the hairstyle of the lady is from the period of Hadrian-Antoninus Pius, so no later than 170 AD.

Condition: Very nice and intact, with traces of corrosion.

Mesopotamian incantation bowl with a nonsensical text consisting of repetitive scribbles.
Bowls with nonsensical non-writing or pseudo-script were not uncommon. The four lines of writing enclose two demonic figures. Possibly male and female.
The heads are rendered in profile with large eyes, the line applied between nose and chin may be a tongue sticking out.
Both demons appear with crossed arms and legs, suggesting that they are bound. The feet with indicated toes.

A lovely little set of three smaller axes, one likely German or Northern Europe, dark bronze hardstone and finely polished (9,8 cm), a nice green stone Meso-American celt, also neolithic period (6,2 cm), and lastly a pointed butt type, likely ancient Near East or Northern Africa (7,8 cm). Interesting lot that needs more study!

This is a socketed iron spear from the ancient middle east. This was part of a lot including Bactrian and Luristan artifacts. I do not have an exact cultural attribution for this piece but it is similar to pieces from northern iran in the early part of the first millenium BC. It is 39 cm long and weighs 316 grams. It is intact with no evidence of repair.

Interesting lot, incl. two round bronze finials, finely decorated / finely engraved with swirly patterns, Roman or darkage, c. 400-1000 AD.
