A good late Qing embroidered silk robe with attached sleeve bands. Late 19th century. W. 113 cm H. 102 cm. Condition: generally good with normal age wear and light discoloring.

This antique beaded headband is from Guang Dong province in China, and is typical of headgear worn by Chinese woman around the turn of the 19th-20th century. It would have been worn the narrow portion across the forehead, with the rounded flap portions covering the ears and fastened in the back of the head.

Chinese silk panel, embroidered with two figures holding scholar items, one figure is dressed in a dragon robe, beautiful blue ground with flowers, edged in silk yellow, green and blue silk brocade. 19th century. Size: 55 3/4" high x 22 1/4" wide

A properly dressed Chinese woman would wear a pair of leggings to cover her lower legs from the bottom of her skirt to the top of her lotus shoes. The leggings would be tied into place with a hand woven sash made specifically for that purpose. These lotus shoe accessories are now rare and very hard to find. See my listing TC236 and ZTC233. This pair of leggings are purple satin weave fabric with ribbon and silk embroidered trim at the cuffs. There is some ares of fade on the basic fabric.

Framed Chinese Qing dynasty blue ground gold thread dragon flying above the sea with auspicious items and chasing firing pearl. Dimensions: 70 x 20 cm without frame, 98 x 49 cm with frame. This well worn pair of Woman's Lotus shoes for bound feet are from the later part of the Qing Dynasty about 1870-1880. The vamp fabric is red cotton with a matching floral embroidery pattern on each side. The delicate hand stitching detail clearly shows the pride taken by the owner/maker. The soles are short of the toe vamp which was done to give the wearer a more floating and sensual appearance when walking.

Almost square hand-made embroidery. On a background of green satin silk two lion dogs, or foo dogs, are playing with a ball and each other between peonies and other flowers, next to a rock formation, a bat in the upper right corner. They are embroidered by hand with bright colors of silk in straight stiches and looped stiches, the lions detailed and outlined with gold-thread, which are twisted silk threads wrapped in thin gold foil...

Antique 19th Century, Chinese, Qing Dynasty pair of Manchu embroidered shoes with a leather sole of a young girl from a high-ranking family.

The sides of the shoes, finely embroidered with floral pattern. The toes of the shoes are embroidered in gold metallic thread with cicadas. leather bottom soles.

CONDITION: Showing age and use, with wear, loose of the thread and silk fabric on the sides, hole on the heel of the one of the shoes, as an aspect of an antique over 100 years old shoes...

1900's Chinese Brocade Silk Embroidered Gold Thread Lady's Skirt

It is 46.85 inches (119 cm) in length by 39 inches (100 cm) wide on the top. It weighs 1.4 lb.

This pair of earmuffs are kept together with a silk ribbon. Worn to protect the ears in winter, the outer side has delicate embroidered flower motif, and the inside is slightly padded and has ear pockets which slip of the ears.

A very rare and well made Temple carpet from Tibet with an Imperial dragon with five claws chasing the elusive pearl. This carpet was made to wrap around the column in the temple and the two ends meet. Size: L.222 cm. W. 122 cm. (7 feet X 4 feet). Condition: No repairs.

In some regions of China, women made separate pairs of heels for their lotus shoes. That way, the heels could be worn with different pairs of lotus shoes, depending on the occasion, or mood. The heels had loops for straps which were used to tie the heels into place on the shoe...

This old Chinese silk hat would have been owned and worn by a gentleman of some financial means. The gold fretted trim was expensive and used on both mens and woman's clothing of the during late Qing dynasty. There is some blue trim fabric lost as shown in the pictures. The hat is lined with red cotton fabric and has writing in 2 of the 6 sections.

Leather products were rare and expensive during the Qing Dynasty in China. Fans were in common usage and a quality fan would have required a proper protective case. A wealthy woman could have afforded this suede fan case and would have considered it as the acceptable accessory to properly detail her finery.

The case is 9+ inches long with silk cord for drawstrings, elaborately knotted and tasseled.

This textile wallet would have been used to keep sewing supplies Each page is made from heavy hand paper, hand painted decoration and folded in such a way that numerous pockets and flaps are available for storage of small bits of fabric, snipes of thread, needles, etc. the outside of the wallet is covered with homespun fabric which now attests to the age and use of the piece. This wallet is from the Dong ethnic minority of China, and would have been passed down from one generation to another...
