Interesting bronze finials, incl. one with an figure and a finely sculptured bronze peacock ornament with loops, c. 19th. century AD.

Two amulet bronze plaques, one with deity or worshipper, size: 12,5-13 cm. and a substantial peacock ornament with loops, size: 11,8 x 10 cm.

Condition: Intact with red and bronze patinas, with some glucerin stains and dirt deposits, probably from use - uncleaned.

A powerful image of Padmasambhava also known as Guru Rimpoche, the reputed founder of Tibetan Buddhism. Carved mostly of a single piece of precious dark purple sandalwood (zitan). Remains of colours and gold. Tibet, 17–18th cent. H 15 cm. Condition: Very good but of course with wear due to age. The trident (khatvanga) is missing.

Antique Indian miniature painting of ladies in a harem. The wife or woman of highest stature is waited on by three lovely ladies. All four of the women are clothed in ornate textiles and with fine jewelry. The seated lady is being served wine in a small gold cup. Painted in gouache and gold on paper. Dates from the 18th/19th century.

Antique Indian miniature painting of a scene with two beautiful ladies in a courtyard. It appears that the ladies picnic has been disturbed by the antics of a cat and bird. At their feet is a spread of fruit and wine. Also a small cage. One could imagine a scene where the bird has escaped and is being chased by the cat. The women pursue the cat and the escaped bird. White doves fly in the blue sky above the walls of the inner courtyard. Painted in gouache on paper...

A large bronze image, cast in two pieces, showing the Tamil deity Aiyanar riding on his horse. The bejewelled cavalier is holding a curved sword and a round shield, wearing decorated bloomers. Antique Indian miniature painting of Shrinathji, the 7-year-old manifestation of Krishna. He stands on a small platform with an umbrella over his head. A married couple offers food and drink. The architecture of the house is wealthy with intricately painted details. In the distance, clouds form. Undoubtedly this is a scene from one of Krishna's many stories...

Statue of a standing woman in formal dress, with an unusual necklace supporting a Christian cross. Wood, with fine glossy patina. India, 19th century. Height: 18.5 cm. The statue is nicely mounted on a custom stand. Abrasion due to age, otherwise good condition.

The story goes that Shiva challenged the need for all materialistic things including food. Parvati, in order to prove to Shiva that food was essential (especially to his followers) disappeared, creating a state of famine. Humans and gods suffered...
