Antique Japanese small netsuke (inro toggle) carved in the form of a rural house under a large pine tree. The 2 story house, which is visible from three sides has multiple windows and a tiny figure standing in one. The pine tree with exaggerated branches grows on the side of the house, it's branches curving over it's roof. Carved of bone.

Good size early 19th century boxwood netsuke of Gama sennin standing with one foot raised while his usual companion - a toad - is climbing onto his left shoulder - apparently much more rare version, as the creature usually seem to prefer the right one. Excellent depiction of sennin’s face with a touch of madness, flowing lines of his robe, leaf skirt and cape. Very cleverly done himotoshi (through the right sleeve to his back), old replacement to the top part of his staff...

Japanese ivory netsuke depicting the Buddha's Hand or Fingered cedar among the leaves, a scented ornamental citrus fruit, a very important symbol in Buddhism, in the shape of a hand, originating from China and Japan where it is grown for religious purposes.
The surface of the netsuke precisely reproduces the natural texture of the fruit, which is not smooth but characterized by roughness and pores.

Good and rare model of an old man, figure of chinese sage, standing and leaning to the right,, his hand on his beard and smiling wearing a beautiful large patterned robe. A dog is sitting at his feet. In the Behrens catalogue by Henri Joly, a similar exemple is represented as Wei Peh-Yang, from the Han dynasty. The subject of the netsuke is sansukumi: a combination of a snake, which eats a toad, which eats a slug, whose slime is poisonous to a snake - thus forming the circle of deaths. This is an antique, Early 20th C., finely hand carved Japanese netsuke, made by Yukimasa (Tadami Uno), depicting a seldom seem version of a Fukura Suzuma or 'Tongue-cut Sparrow', with an elderly woman seated on the right wing of the bird, holding very tight to its neck, while carrying a pair of scissors on her right hand. This is a mid-19th century netsuke possibly made by Ishikawa Rensai. an Asakusa School carver, that paints a comical portrayal of a Fu L:ion in a reclining pose with its right paw resting on a Mokugyo. Attributed to the Asakusa carver because of the close likeness of the subjects' characteristics and theme. A very similar piece was sold at the Mang Netsuke Collection Sale, conducted on 07 December 2012, at Falls Church, VA, by Quinn's Auction Galleries, Lot 180, for $2,600, plus premium (25%)...

Strong early piece, wonderful ferocious face, powerful oversized paws with beautifully defined claws, eyes are inlaid with brown horn, loose ball in its mouth.
