This is shirushi-Hanten which a firefighter wore. A member of Nu-gumi wore this. The letter of the collar is written as Nu-gumi. The inside is good blue-colored cotton of the natural indigo plant. It is the good cotton that both sides were spun by hand. The small hole such as the image is it in three places and thin stain two places. The others are complete. Size 107cm x 120cm (42.1 "x 47.2")

This is Noshime used in a district for the Meiji period. This is woven with silk and cotton. The line of the part of the waist is drawn on this freely by hand. This has several places of changes of color of the aging, but does not stand out. This does not have damage. This is Kyougen clothes used in a local side. This is the Katazome cotton festival costume used in Edo during the Edo period. It is dyed with natural indigo. Cotton is hand-spun and thick. It has a few repair marks, but it doesn't stand out. This is a Japanese antique indigo dy sakiori noragi hanten of paper, Hemp, cotton. It is an item from the Edo to Meiji era. This item was made in Sado region of Japan. It is a wonderful sakiori noragi haten, which is woven with very finely twisted indigo dye, hemp yarn and paper twist. The rubbing of the thread due to use has a warm touch. And the indigo dye lumps seem to look into the very beautiful sea. It does not stain or damage...

This is an original yosegire hanjyuban made with plenty of silk katazime and silk fabrics from the Edo period. During the Edo period, silk was very expensive, so kimonos were often made without throwing away even the smallest scraps. This item uses plenty of linen thread as the basting thread. This is a japanese antique silk Child furisode kimono of the Meiji era. It's a very auspicious pattern of fairy dogs(otogiinu), snappers, chrysanthemums, toy boxes, cranes and more. It is also used during the New Year and Hinamatsuri. It is a very cute and gorgeous children's kimono. A fairy dog is a pair of male and female dog decorations. It's a box, and you can put amulets, toys, makeup tools, etc. inside. It is also called a dog box...

This is possibly a card or ticket case made of rare piece of bingata cotton cloth. Bingata is katazome ( stencil-dyeing ) produced in Ryukyu islands ( now Okinawa ). This bingata was produced in 19th century, but this case might have been made later, early 20th century ( sewn by machine ). The lining is silk. In excellent condition. 13cm x 7.7cm

This is tsutsugaki & handwriting fireman's cotton coat sashiko hanten coat of a splendid firefighter of the late Tokugawa period of the Edo era(1800-1867). This is a very advanced technique. And the entire surface is stitched with sashiko. The lining is indigo dyed...

Cotton Kurume kasuri futonji with bold kasuri with asagi (light blue). Kurume in Fukuoka Pref. in Kyushu has been one of the main product places of indigo dyed cotton kasuri since late Edo period (early 19th century). It is made of hand-spun cotton and vegetable indigo dyed. Late 19th to early 20th century. In excellent condition. 134cm x 150cm

Noren, a shop curtain made of hemp (taima) whose wefts and warps are hand plied and dyed with kakishibu (persimmon tannin). It has the shop logo "Tawara (俵）”with sumi. All hand sewn. In good condition but has some stains and a hole (1cm x 0.5cm) and mending stitches. The second half of the 19th to early 20th century. W:125cm, L:147cm

Representation of a print by Kiyonaga in silk embroidery. Some parts are silk velvet, some are woven, some are embroidered. Some details are finely traced in ink. Beautiful finely executed embroidery work. Good condition fresh colors, no restoration. This kind of work is rare, especially of this high quality. Japan probably Meiji, around 1900. Japanese silk obi, Nagoya style, dyed with the design of Chinese Empress and court attendants in the bamboo grove. It appears that this was converted to current Nagoya style obi (from kimono?). The design of this obi is unique. The wide and narrow area of this obi has different designs on both sides and all seams appear clean. By taking one side of the seam apart, you have a large fabric to work with (double in size with one seam in the center)...
