This vintage wearable work of art comprised of sterling silver, turquoise and amethyst was designed and signed by Taxco, Mexico artist Matilde Poulat in the 1950's before her passing in 1960. A beautiful sterling cuff bracelet c. 1950 by Arizona Modernist H. Fred Skaggs featuring a very complex and elaborate pattern of silver applique. The bracelet measures 6 1/2" end to end with an opening that can be made to accommodate either a smaller or larger wrist. The width varies from 2" to 1 1/2" and the weight is 98 grams. Large Chinese late Qing Guangxu period cylindrical form censer decorated in underglaze blue against a white porcelain ground with a faint blue-green tint with a pair of four-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl above waves. When I saw this necklace I was rather stunned by it's workmanship and unusual beauty. Obviously Modernist but also Brutalist. The smaller beads are also all handmade and of varied sizes.
