Using a combination of azurite and malachite the Los Castillo taller created a fantastic line of jewelry based on the almost lost ancient Aztec art of stone inlay. The charm bracelet here is a fantastic example of the technique and one of the most interesting "Mozaico Azteca" pieces by the Castillos I have encountered. The Greek key links are connected with flexible, sturdy hinges and the stone mosaic is done in warm, earthy colors with accents of deep blue and greens...

Hallmarks date this whimsical Hubert Harmon repoussé pin 1944-1948.

Before moving to Mexico in the early 1940's, Harmon had been a fashion designer who worked for Schiaparelli in Paris, and for Elizabeth Arden in New York. His designs are very unique, and as he only produced work for a short time his pieces are rarely seen.

This is a spectacular piece composed of two pins connected with a long chain. There is no end to the many ways you can wear them...

Good early Mexican Deco silver repousse jewelry is becoming harder to find - I don't know if it's because there weren't that many to begin with (quite often repoussage from that period seems a little clumsy, the technique needing additional experimenting with) or that at some point their popularity grew so much that they were "scooped up" from the market. Whatever the case, I am thrilled to be presenting this fantastic cuff bracelet with two saturated purple amethyst cabs here...

A design that doesn’t come up very often, these figural Mexican Deco silver earrings by Los Castillo remind me of Old World “wind” representations. Los Castillo design # 142 is a very early design with a hefty 117 grams and a wearable length of 17inches. It was necessary to restring this necklace in order for it to be enjoyed for another 70 years. In the early years many items strung on threads does bear this style of clasp. The center medallion is 3in. x 1.25in. The design is an overlay of exceptionally thick silver. It has a beautiful patina and is a pleasure to wear with no damage. Very rare, just LOOK AT THAT NECLACE!

Signed by one of the best repousse makers of Mexico's 20th c. Silver Renaissance who unfortunately remains still unidentified, this clamper draws on the country's rich pre-Colombian past and is in fact based on a Los Castillo design, if I am not mistaken. Shaped like an imposing Maya or Aztec warrior with the most impressive headdress of feathers and gems the two wings meet at the front with the figures looking in different directions. The feathers continue all the way around the bracelet, their...
