VERY RARE Hector Aguilar Aztec Metal Symbols Cuff bracelet c. 1940-55 in 940 silver. It is featured on page 29 of the book SILVER MASTERS OF MEXICO by Morrill and Berk. Each panel has a different Aztec metal symbol. The bracelet is hinged on one side and has a pin closure. It measures 6 1/2" around in the inside and is 1 1/4" wide. It weighs 115 grams and is in beautiful original condition. Signed as shown. VERY hard to come by and an amazing masterpiece.
On brown silk gauze finely embroidered high ranking nobleman's court robe. In polychrome and couched gold threads nine five clawed dragons, one dragon hidden on the underflap of the garment. The mythical beasts chasing for the flaming pearl among clouds, bats, peaches and the buddhist precious things. The bottom of the textile is decorated with waves and stylised rocks. The sleeves worked in pleated dark blue silk, ending in horsehoof cuffs, side-fastening overlapping closure with metal buttons...
Description:A unique blue and white inkcake holder was in flat drum’s shape.
Painted on the surface with Buddhist diagrams and floral patterns,the basin was decorated with round dots on the upper and lower rim as drum’s nails.
In the center, the small circular brush-lick pool was unglazed and stained with some old ink.
As to the painting, cobalt blue was concentrating within the flowing brush
strokes. The darkened blue suggested that native Chinese ingredients were
used...

This is a museum quality and large amber glazed pouch ewer from the Liao Dynasty (907-1125). Tall and handsome, it stands on a flat splay foot rising upwards to a bulging side body with a long vertical spout with foliated mouth rim and a rounded handle instead of the pinch handle. The whole pouch ewer is coated with dark amber glaze on a white colour slip stopping short of the splay foot rim showing the red colour stoneware...

Description: An ancient wood sculpture of a Buddha was done in Yuan Dynasty. With tauted posture, serene facial expression, the religious image was still imposing even after 700-800 years of enduring age. Defected on the face, lost of the limbs and decays and frets on the surface, the wood piece was very light due to long time of exposing to the dry air of northern China.

This Japanese Fireman Hanten is made of hand-loomed Sashiko weave cotton fabric. This was the fabric of choice for the firefighting jackets because they could and would be drenched with water to keep the fireman safe from the flames while fighting fires. This piece is hand sewn and has clearly been heavily used. It has several holes and patches. When I got it years ago, it smelled badly of wood smoke...I did wash it to get rid of the smell.
A set of scholars desk items, including a Chinese Qing dynasty crystal brush rest in the form of two mountains, Chinese crystal stamp carved with four characters between dragons, and an unusual obelisk written with the Nichiren Buddhist epitaph Na-mu Myoho-ren-ge-kyo in radical script over textured surface, glass or crystal. We have been unable to find a single inclusion in the obelisk, making it either a perfect crystal, suiting a religious object, or glass...
A cormorant cries out to the sea on the lid of this fantastic suzuri bako writing box enclosed in a red lacquered kiri-wood box. Inside the birds mate looks up from among gold flecked lotus leaves growing wild along the waters edge. The box contains the original tray with stone, the edges of which are flecked with gold. It is in excellent condition but for on ding to the inside of the base, lower left, and one in roughly the same position on the lid...
