This is an extraordinary sterling bird pin/pendant by Salvador Teran. It is a magnificent example of his fascination with overlapping planes. Japanese woodblock print triptych of swimming turtles and fish with actor mons and human faces by Yoshu Chikanobu (1838-1912) dated 5th month of Meiji 19 (1886). The convention of disguising portraits of actors arose in the Edo period when bust portraits of actors were banned, through the Tempo Reforms of 1841-1843, for being conspicuous and a detriment to public morality. Each panel measures about 14"V x 9 1/8"H. The print is in good overall condition with fading evident...

A superb Sajigawa stone of deep olive patina, completely natural, on a carved rosewood base and enclosed in a fine old straight grain wood box. Notice the entirely natural arch growing between the two spires. This is incredibly rare and a fine prize. This would be considered a house shaped stone, reminiscent of a farm-house and its adjoining out-building, a covered passage between. Saji stones come from the Saji river in Tottori prefecture...

Heavy pigment forms a spectral scene of a dark stone lantern viewed through the spring laden branches of maples, a dove taking flight in the fore. Anyone who has visited Japan will know the haunting sense these monoliths produce. The painting is performed in thick pigment on applied silver-leaf, signed Taisho (Okada Taisho, b. 1888). The screen is signed in the lower right corner, and measures150 x 151 cm (59 inches by 5 feet). It is in fine condition, with only minor abrasions from handling...

A long bamboo incense case with dark wood lid carved exquisitely with blossoming lotus and calligraphy. The deteriorating leaves rise from the bottom, blossoms spreading their petals to the sun. An extraordinary amethyst and silver bracelet by Fred Davis, c 193. The weight and mass of the large rectangular amethyst stones is complimented by the open design of the silver links. I believe this bracelet to be quite rare. It measures 7 3/4" end to end and is 1 1/4" wide. It weighs 88 grams. It is in fine original condition with only a tiny line and ding to the edge of one of the silver rounds. It in no way detracts from the piece...

An attractively carved okinomo, depicting three sparrows on a branch, made in Japan during the Meiji period (1868-1911) for export to Europe or the U.S. Condition very good. There is one crack which runs through the centre of the branch and finishes as a hairline on the first birds head. The ivory displays the usual age yellowing - most visible on the back view. This item would have originally come with a carved wood base but will stand on its own on a stable horizontal surface. 7.8 inch...

This is an amazing looking, bold and beautiful, sterling and azur-malachite bracelet by Taxco silversmith Gerardo Lopez. It is an early piece as it has the eagle mark, but is a mid-century modern design, clean and simple that makes a big statement. This piece pulls open in the front and is hinged in the back. It measures 6 3/4" around in the inside and is 1 5/8" wide at the widest point in the front at the square. The azur-malachite is impeccably fused to the silver, much like the work of Enrique ...

A magnificent sterling and turquoise necklace and matching ring by Fred Davis. It is all original and in beautiful condition. The ring is signed but not the necklace so I would always keep it as a set. The ring is a size 6, front measures 1 1/8" long by 3/4" wide. The necklace is spectacular, a collar really, measuring approx. 16 1/2- 17" long. Hard to be exact because it is curved. It is 1 1/2" wide and weighs 148 grams. It is a fabulous set that I believe to be quite rare as I have never seen...
