Early and rather rare - in all the years that I have been involved with vintage Mexican silver jewelry I have not seen another one like it - this is a bracelet with a big "wow" factor. Wide, with beautiful cut-out designs, its links are constructed in the shadow-box style which adds a dramatic sense of depth to the bracelet. Beautiful amethyst cabochons, twist-rope wire decoration and a pin closure complete the Deco marvel...

Margot de Taxco design # 5120 with amethyst drops is rare. This beauty is properly hallmarked on both the chain and the drop. The necklace is 17.5 inches long and has a weight of 72 grams heavy. The repousse is deep and the patina is natural and dark in it's recesses. In some not all pictures the amethyst show internal striations when camera light was flooded upon them, but these are not cracks or pits and do not rise to the tops of the stones. They look dark in your hands with natural light...

Chinese Song Dynasty Hare's Fur Bowl in Kiln Saggar (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)
This "hare's fur" bowl and kiln saggar were made during the Song Dynasty (AD 960 - 1279) and have been excavated from a kiln site in Fujian province. Presumably the temperature in the kiln during firing became too high, as the bowl is slightly misshapen and has become fused to the wall of the saggar by its glaze.
Diameter of saggar 14.5 cm, diameter of bowl 10 cm...
This antique gau would have been worn around the neck of a Tibetan woman during festivals.
The gau front and side surfaces are decorated with ornate wire work and the front has small beads of turquoise, coral and Lapis. Originally, the gau box would have contained Buddhist religious relics which were removed long ago... and there is some obvious lose to the enamal work on the inside of the gau. The back fits tightly but can easily be removed. It has the sign of the double dorjie...

Deep, rich cognac color with black piping recaptures the presence they once had.
