Rare Chinese Yuan Dynasty Early "Blue & White" Underglazed Jar (Ex. Grahame Clarke Collection)

This rare jar was made during the Yuan Dynasty (AD 1279 - 1368) by one of the kilns at Yuxi county in Yunnan province, one of the first places in the world where blue & white ware was produced. Similar wares were first unearthed in 1973 in Lufeng County, Yunnan Province although, surprisingly, such wares are still relatively unknown to western collectors...

Joseff's sassy lion head clip earrings. They are large and fussy and crowned with three dimensional lion heads complete with mane and rhinestone eyes. Made of antiqued gold metal, a hallmark of Joseff, designer to Hollywood stars. They are, amazingly, very light weight and swing gently with head movement. Signed Joseff in script on the back of the dangle. Top to bottom 3 1/4, dangle 2" at widest.

The separate delicate chain with tassels can be wrapped around the front part of the necklace in a variety of configurations, or it can be used separately with another piece of jewelry. The oval Miriam Haskell mark is on the flower clasp. Necklace 22 1/2" end to end, the chain and tassels 8" end to end.

A blue & white large dish, decorated to the center with a deer and bird in landscape, found only on this Swatow family, the sides decorated with a diaper border in Jiajing style. This dish, or shallow bowl, was made during the Southern Song Dynasty (AD 1127 – 1279). It has a moulded decoration featuring, in its centre, two fish swimming amongst waves. The two fish are an emblem of harmony and a happy marriage. The bowl is coated in a greenish Qingbai type of glaze. The rim remains unglazed, allowing the bowl to be placed in a firing ring in the kiln as part of a stack of similar bowls. ...

This very attractive porcelain bowl was made during the second half of the 16th century, c.1570 - 1590.
