This hand made beater board was used with an old backstrap loop by one of the hill tribes of northern Thailand. Now, as a folk art tool from another culture, it is an authentic ethnographic artifact and is also an interesting piece of sculpture.

The beater board is 4 inches wide and 27+ inches long, and has lost a few "teeth" with age.

This is a very rare image of baby krishna. He is usually depicted crawling, but this posture where he's trying to put his foot in his mouth is rarely seen. A beautifully decorated Qing dynasty famille rose plate with 5 different brightly coloured butterflies alternating with bamboo leave, melon plant, chrysanthemum flower, morning glory flower and cherry flower. The base of the plate bears the six-character reign mark of Guangxu (1875-1908) and of the late Qing Dynasty period.

There is a minor firing fault at the top right hand corner where the reign mark is...

Description;

A Song inkstone in slender form was with sunken square pool.
In slight green tint of the Duan stone quality, it was quite clean on the surface when old patina and wave-like stone veins were yielded on the reverse side.
By a good size, it was most likely a practical scholar item rather than just a piece for burial use.

Date: Song Dynasty, 960-1279.

This is a small Tang Dynasty funerary sancai or tri-colour tea cup. It stands on a flat and small footrim and then everted flat and vertically upwards towards and everted mouth rim. The tri-colour are green, beige and amber, both in long streak in interior of the cup and some form of flower motif on outside.

There is no repair or restoration, some abrasion, firing and manufacturing faults which can be seen on the photos...

The four lobed collar, terminating in ruyi heads, and all wide hems extravagantly embroidered with romance figures in Peking stitch and little gold thread couching.
