In keeping with the love the 1960s and '70s had for huge, "ethnic" pendants this Los Ballesteros sterling silver sunburst stunner is inspired by ancient Aztec and Maya calendar disks and measures 3.5 in without the bail! Several silversmithing techniques were combined to create the pendant - cutwork, chasing, overlay, oxidation - and right at the center, a crown-set amethyst brings intense color to an otherwise silver and black background...

Early Mexican silver necklace of fine grade silver in a minimalist yet visually powerful pre-Colombian motif bearing the signature of Jorge "Chato" Castillo. Chato's jewelry doesn't come up very often and his earlier pieces, like this, are usually wrought in 980 silver. I like to call this the "Shields and Bead" motif and really love its austere elegance! Measuring 15 3/4" long the necklace is 1 1/8" wide and weighs 40.5 grams...

Stupendous - literally - Francisco Rivera for Emma bracelet in an "archeological" design, this is a cuff fit for a warrior princess! Hefty, meticulously worked and perfectly finished, it exudes confidence and represents the epitome of the "statement" bracelet. Based in Mexico City Plateria FarFan made some truly exquisite pieces - I love their massive mesh-style bracelets and necklaces (please take a look at item nos 1074808 and 1090049 for representative examples currently in my inventory) as well as their heavy charm bracelets. What is presented here, however, is a stunning repousse creation that bears their name - exquisitely detailed; elaborate yet carefully executed design; and minimalist carved amethyst "masks" make this a stupendous bracelet. Big and dramatic, this gold plate brooch by William deLillo depicts a lizard or gecko, his body with four raised sections, all four feet with splayed toes. It measures 4' wide, 2 1/2" high, and has a c clasp closure with safety catch. It is signed on the back in an oval cartouche with the deLillo name. Gold plate over brass, there are some sections where the plate is rubbed a bit, and there are some very small spots, all visible in close up photos. This form is quite rare, and like some of d...
