Vajradhara or Dorje Chang in Tibetan is the ultimate primordial Buddha or Adi Buddha according to the Gelug and Kagyu schools of Tibetan Buddhism. Two Tibetan bone carvings of dancing Dakinis from a ceremonial bone apron. One Dakini carries a chopper, kapala (skull cup) and a skull scepter; the other holds a kapala in her left hand. A pair of unique three part tokkuri by Taniguchi Chojiro consisting of a top, which turned upside down forms the cup, a central ring on which the cup rests, and the bottle, which, when assembled, make the form of a temple bell. Of large size, this Huanghuali root or burl Scholars object features an interior bowl shaped area, which is most likely a brush washer. It measures 14" in length, 8 3/4" wide, and is 5" high, and has a darkened and soft patina. The grain of the wood is visible in many areas, with both pronounced striations and larger areas of dark coloration. Large Chinese late Qing Guangxu period cylindrical form censer decorated in underglaze blue against a white porcelain ground with a faint blue-green tint with a pair of four-clawed dragons chasing a flaming pearl above waves. The interior is glazed while the base is unglazed. 7 1/2" high x 8" diameter. Late 19th to early 20th century. Very good overall condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs. There is a small amount of staining to the interior.

Gnarled plums cover the unusual rich blue ground of this antique tsubo vase from the Arita kilns dating from the early 20th century. An unusual, sancai glazed stoneware caparisoned elephant form vessel. The larger opening on its back is suggestive of a lime pot (our best guess) with only traces suggested by an off white cast on the sides of the otherwise buff colored unglazed interior.
