Fine & Rare Chinese Jin Dynasty Painted Pottery Tile - Entertainer
This impressive pottery tile was made during the Jin Dynasty (AD 1115 - 1234). It is made from a relatively high-fired grey pottery that has been cold-painted in various coloured pigments, traces of which still remain.

A nicely carved natural amber pendant of the Hand of Buddha Citron. There is a hole at the top on the piece so it can be worn as a pendant. The citron fruit may be given as a religious offering in Buddhist temples. According to tradition, Buddha prefers the "fingers" of the fruit to be in a position where they resemble a closed rather than open hand, as closed hands symbolize to Buddha the act of prayer. Meiping vase measuring 7 3/4' high, signed by Chikusai with Shimazu red crest, high relief enamel decoration of baboo trunks and leaves, with floral and foliate elements, with Gosu blue colors. Excellent condition, no chips, cracks or wear (slight loss of gilding on lip). Very artful, lovely design from all sides, with especially high relief of the enamel work.

A gilt silver plaque was well decorated with motifs of QiLinSongZi, a most popular Chinese metaphor of the fairy animal Qilin sending child to the vowing family.
By characteristic Chinese scenes of pagoda, plum trees, Qilin and the figure riding through the water waves, the picturesque scene was well carved and chiseled by excellent craftsmanship.
It was a piece most likely a buckle on the cloth belt. There're old drilling holes on four corners for sewing thread...
